ganges or ashoka church road are imo the best in brighton. some on the other hand hate them......

Good shout. First Canhams, then the Ashoka. Clearly you are a man of taste. I love the Ashoka, particularly the Chicken Tikka Vindaloo for a normal English style curry and the chef's special Bangledeshi fish dishes for something a bit different.

Went to the Ashoka on my stag night 6 and a half years ago then moved away for 4 years. Came back and it's just as good as ever. *drool*

Has anyone been to River Spice in Preston Street?
If so is it any good?
Any other Indian restaurant reccomendations welcome.

Yes and yes. Their curried lamb shanks are 'andsome

Ashoka gets another nod

Ganges gives me bad guts in a bad way

Personal preference is the Curry Mahal in Portland Road
Excellent choice sir - just the suggestion I was going to make on this thread. Had a balti there about a month ago, and I can't think where I've had a better one.

DO NOT eat in restaurants down Preston St. That whole place is a rat-infested hole. I've had a disturbing conversation with a local vermin exterminator recently, and Preston St is apparently his number 1 call-out destination.

The bengal palace are alright but when it is busy the service is awful. Took us 2.5 hours to have a meal last time I was there.

Yeah fair point mate, but on a Sunday the special menu is always nice!

Bombay nights - 8/10
rajpoot - 8.5/10 top notch
eastern eye - 8/10
panahar 7.5/10
bengal brasserie - 8/10
pria - 6/10
curry nights 1/10 food dye and rat meat

the shahi on beaconsfied road (viaduct etc) in brighton is top notch...
