Er,

aside from the aforementioned TV I have to admit I'm struggling. Other than to suggest some of the beautiful women, but then EVERY nation is capable of producing beautiful women, and at least ours don't sound horrible.

If Edison recorded sound does that mean we can credit the yanks with recorded music?

Otherwise I'm all out of ideas

I also want to nominate Las Vegas.

How many other nations could build city in the middle of the desert and turn it into a uniquely brilliant location in the same way?

Er, it was unique - once. Don't think it was ever brilliant

The dozens of $1bn+ hotels are awesome, and there are so many of them. You've obviously been and whether or not you like it, it's a place that must be seen at some point in your life IMO.

Couldn't live there though - wouldn't want to spend more than a week there actually. But it's genius.

1. Mint Choc Ice Cream
2. Root Beer

Root beer is liquid puke!

The person who invented the internet as we know today is British.

The first multi-user packet-switching networks were developed by the US Dept of Defense in the 1960's... leading to ARPANET, the predecessor of the 'internet'. The significant technicians, Licklider, Roberts, Clark et al. were Americans.

Correct, I must also correct myself it was Tim Berners-Lee who invented the World Wide Web. But I think you can argue this is what most people term as the internet.

Internet = transmission standard + infrastructure
Web = interface on top of that

The "Internet" is american. The web is British, chat is (mostly) Finnish, instant messaging (effectively) Israeli, and so on - but the internet existed well before all of these.

I have corrected my mistake above MYOB, thanks for the information though.

Instant messaging, Israeli? Does that mean ICQ was the first instant messaging system?

First popular, globally accessible one yes.

The web wasn't the first hypermedia system, nor was it the first globally accessible one but its the one we use today. ICQ was the first IM system to match what we use today.
