I was once told that many of the tanning studios in Liverpool were a front for drug money laundering. No idea how true it was, but the person who told me was usually well informed.
I work in financial crime and they are a typical cohort to launder, particularly in area and north Wales

See, also personal trainers, who I’ve seen first hand feature in asset seizure under the proceeds of crime act on multiple occasions

Don’t publicise it, some coppers are nsc’ers.

Any particular brands?

I understand that the conflict arose due to the barbers who use the old Alliance building society premises objecting to being told they were in Boundary Road, rather than Station Road.

They feared that if this continued their rent would be increased to reflect Hove rather Portslade rents.

Meanwhile the barbers correctly tagged as being in Boundary Road were aghast to find out about the unfair advantage that the barbers on the other side had, and looked for a levelling up to take place

Meanwhile both barbers could be in for a windfall as Netflix are looking at an 8 part series to be called Edward Scissors Hand - The Upgrade which will be based on the events
Should have got me in as a negotiator. I would have suggested both move to Carlton Terrace ;)

A quick google of the names released in the news shows people linked to HB and MK Barbers were involved.. Shame really, I'd been to HB Barbers a couple times since it opened and liked it there.

Obvious from the fact that both had been shut since the incident but I guess you have to live round here to know that.

Iranian surnames?

“Turkish barbers” must the brand to draw customers.

What were the surnames that makes you think they are Iranian ? As I know Turkish Kurds aren't allowed to use Kurdish names and have to use Turkish names whilst Iranian, Iraqi and Syrian Kurds keep Kurdish names, quite apart from the Persian Iranians, Arab Iraqis and Syrian Arabs, whilst a lot of Armenians have come from Iran originally and that's just what I know from my own close friends and relatives

As someone once said 'ees complicated'

With a couple of the surnames, like you, from personal contacts. Iranians, that’s all they’ve ever called themselves. Persian Iranians, came to the UK to escape the 79 revolution.

I’m well aware of Kurdistan, its history and oppression from all sides.

Away from the predictable tone of your post. Genuine question, can’t Turkish Kurds use their original Kurdish names in the safety of the UK?

As far as I am aware, it is something that has happened in Turkey over generations, so they don't have original kurdish names. And the tone of my post is that assuming people are a certain nationality or ethnic group from surnames may be a bit simplistic in 2024, That's all. Alexis Mac Allister ?

To settle your discussion the Companies House entry for the director of HB who is also one of the accused confirms he is in fact Iranian, not Turkish....

He didn't assume their nationality, though.

He said they had 'Iranian NAMES'. He didn't actually assume they were IRANIAN.

Just as, to use your example, somebody would be well within their rights to suggest MacAllister was a SCOTTISH / IRISH name...

The conflict may go deeper than merely a turf war.
As per my previous post Companies House confirms the director of HB to be Iranian while the Companies House entry for MK confirms its director to be Iraqi. He is also named as one of the accused...
