Early New Year 1983 v Watford, rubbish 1 - 1 draw but Peter Ward scored whilst back on loan from Forests. My 30th Anniversary game last year, against the same opponents, was a bit of a let down!

Toward the end of the 1983/84 season, a rescheduled midweek home game with Carlisle United. We won 4-1, and l've been hooked ever since.

North Stand
bout 84, vs Pompey when I was 7yo.

Still remember the walk from where we parked....over Sackville road, up stairs past shops, along road through industrial park, past stagecoach bus factory / lockup, under the bridge, shouting at the top of my voice hearing it echo, left at church on Newtown Road, upto West Stand where I sat with my dad, bro and grandad. Don't remember the game but do remember the flask of Oxo and choccy digestive biscuits my grandad had in full supply, oh and the whiff of sweet pipe smoke (Old Bruno I think) drifting up through the crowd. And for some reason a load of fans in the West Stand singing 'you what, you what, you what you what you what'!
