[Albion] In praise of (the surprisingly quiet) David Stockdale

He's barely getting a menton this season, but let's talk about David...

With the back four in front of him so superlative, Stockdale often has long periods in games where he barely gets a touch. Despite that however, he still does what is required when called upon.

After Baldock's super strike, it was a stuttering Albion first half performance today, but Stockdale ensured we went in one up.

Also, it may just be my impression, but he seems to have less, errrrm, "presence" this season. I don't notice much from him on social media for instance. It feels like he's quietly going about his business of just being bloody excellent.

Once again he proved what a liability he is between the sticks.
I'd rather have the friendly ghost back in goal.

Came for several crosses and corners today and punched them. At least that's a start and a new thing on the whole...

But yes, I think he's an excellent keeper overall.

He often seems to be caught in two minds about whether to stay put or come for the ball, which always makes me nervous. That said he's been solid this season, and actually close to being MOTM today. If QPR had scored during their spell of attacks in the first half then were loose defiantly.

Isn't that what DS could be described as a consummate professional

He would have been my MoM if QPR had had more shots on target.

Good distribution. Good shot stopper. Sometimes a bit indecisive when dealing with set pieces. Very happy overall and our defensive record speaks for itself. On the rare occasion that the back four are breached, Stockdale usually manages to handle the situation.

There's a definite palace troll masquerading as Albion who's been anti stocko all season.
The worry thing about his posts is that he's taken a few Albion fans along with him.

I thought it would be nice to get in first, for a change.

A Reading supporting mate reckons that their keeper is the most important player for any team in the league, he drunkenly estimated 10 points compared to them merely having an excellent keeper.

That would put us on 61 points

Think this says it all. Today he was decisive. made one mistake on a cross (missed/dropped it) but defence dealt with it. there have been times he has not been so decisive. today he made 3 class saves. if he were a striker and scored three times he would have been MOM.
