What is this business about now playing Barnes in midfield?

He is a striker....he scores goals. Ok he is up against far better defenders but last night I would have taken painter off and pushed Barnes up with cms.

What's this business of only playing one winger, when passing football is supposed to stretch the field (i.e. why Gus designed the pitch at the Amex to be so wide)?
