We are both fortunate to have been managed by, arguably, the best British manager ever, the inimitable Brian Clough

Also by Peter Taylor whose contribution to Cloughie's success should not be overlooked.

Were we fortunate? Clough clearly thought himself bigger than Brighton & Hove Albion. His heart wasn't in the Brighton job. Didn't he miss a game after jetting to Las Vegas to watch an Ali fight? I think of Cloughs time at Brighton, I think 2-8 at home to Bristol Rovers & 0-4 to Walton & Hersham. When Clough buggered off to Leeds, Peter Taylor laid the foundations for The glory years of the late 70's & with Alan Mullery continuing the good work.

Clough was good entertainment & there's no doubting he done a fantastic job with Derby & Forest. His leaving Brighton was no loss imo.

Absolutely correct. He treated the Albion appallingly and showed himself to be a glittering hypocrite and crass bully with an inflated view of himself. Successful manager in his day but wouldn't have survived 10 minutes now.

It did put Albion on the front page though. It would be a bit like Bournemouth hiring Murinho.

Long term he was no good but he, along with Taylor, started to turn around the club and Taylor eventually left the bulk of the team that just needed Mullery's motivation.
