In all honesty can you blame Coppell

One of the problems in having no money is that the team Coppell has built is, essentially, short-term and loan-based. Therefore, it is easier for him to leave with his conscience intact than if he'd persuaded players to sign 3 or 4 year contracts. This situation is likely to continue.

Do I blame him? Yes. His job here is not done, whereas Horton, Adams and Taylor all took us on another level.

It shows you where we are - in the last coupld of days we have seen both sides.

A couple of days ago we heard how rushden fans were complaining that they can't compete with a bigger club like Brighton, with their beigger squad and ability to call up laon players from the premiership. Rushden are a mid-table 2nd division side.

We are now complaining how we can't compete with Reading in that they have a great stadium, div 1 status looking to go one better. Reading are a top half division 1 side.

This highlights to me that at the moment we are a top 2nd division side/ struggling div 1 side. Until we get Falmer we can't hope to be anything more.

But it shows what a club like BHA could and should be. I don't dream we are a premiership club or anything but with a decent stadium and the fan support, we could be pushing the top half of div 1.

Don't know about Taylor taking us to a new level. He did well, but we were already at about that level when he arrived. Plus when he left it wasn't for a better job..... he had no job to go to, just didn't fancy trying to keep us in division 1.

I agreed pardew made the right choice with westham as who can blame him,but this is reading who will not go up this season and don't have the potential they think as only sold out about 2-3 times in 5 years or so.

I find coppell a bit diffrent from most managers and pretty loyal,but with all the mini delays on the stadium ongoing this must make any manager wonder whats going on.

The stadium lark has gone on far to long and did it rearly need to mmmm.

If and when he leaves I can’t really blame Coppell. He was brought in October last year with the assignment to keep us up, which unfortunately he narrowly failed. He agreed to stay on in the summer and manage our promotion bid and we are sitting comfortably in second at present. But until we get Falmer (Prescott take note) this club will not be as developed as it will hopefully be in around three years time.

Reading will probably finish in the play offs this season and with players like Goater, Forster and Sidwell they have a decent team. Added to this a nice, new large stadium as well as a chairman with money Reading must look a good option especially at a time when our first team is decimated by injuries.

i can blame coppell. if he wanted a job in a higher league he should of refused the contract offer from us in the summer and waited until the heads started to roll in sept/oct. if he goes now he could ruin our season by unsettling the players with a new managers style.
I always thought of coppell as a man of integrity and high morals and thought he would at least of honoured his contract.

Can't blame him but am SOOOOO pissed off right now. Have been in a meeting all day and was told about it by a bloody Reading fan!!

Quite interesting quote from Coppell as soon as Pardew left saying that the only loyalty in football is between a supporter and their club - this just proves the point.

If he goes, good luck to him but, right now, I feel more angry than at any time over the past few seasons. Zamora gone in the summer, now Coppell (probably), all we need is DC to go and my misery will be complete!!!

Loyalty has to work both ways in football if it's to mean anything, and Brighton haven't always done the honourable thing with managers in the past.

However, Coppell didn't have to sign a contract, and as it's only for 12 months he could at least honour it. People talk about integrity. Integrity isn't about saying one thing and doing another.

Read his programme notes, he sounds very upbeat and positive about working towards the new stadium. If he leaves now because he fancies a better job, then it's all just words and he's no better than the other monkey's who jump ship at the drop of a hat: Steve Bruce for example.

I'd be looking at houses in Berkshire before you could say "en-suite bathroom".

It's a job. He's been offered a better one. He'd be stupid not to go.

So, if you got offered the job of moderating the Arsenal Messageboard (huge worldwide fanbase, get paided etc etc) by your logic you would be off then.

Obviously, you won't because you are a loyal Brighton fan and thats what its all about loyalty, even in the short-term. The trouble is it does not exist and football is shit because of it.

It makes my blood boil.
