Got ID checked at Liverpool, first time ever bar CPFC which appears mandatory.

Wasn't aware it had ever stopped

No away supporters in home end but if you pay £130 plus we will let you in hospitality with home fans

The email mentioned the zero tolerance of away fans in the home end. But failed to mention the total acceptance of them sitting, and celebrating, in any 1901 areas in the ground.

Playing with fire for a few extra quid.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen any oppo fans celebrating in the 1901 area we’re in, WSM central. Perhaps we’re lucky as the vast majority of our neighbours are familiar faces and many/most were there at Withdean and before.

Away fans using 1901 are not allowed any colours and are told to behave responsibly as they are at our home ground. I know there has been a tiny number of instances I’ve heard about elsewhere but I honestly can’t remember the last time.

How hard would it be for the club to check ID for everyone queuing at random away games! Also have a couple of spare stewards looking out for people approaching the away section queue but then turning away when they see the checks. They should also make it a requirement that, if you have an away ticket and can't go at the last minute that you are required to notify the club by email at least 3 hours before kick off!

I’m much more irritated by the regular twats quite openly vaping two rows in front of me where the stewards do nothing than by a (e.g.) Spurs fan sitting quietly and not bothering anyone
I would suggest actually reporting it to the stewards but, if they do nothing or your are not comfortable doing it, then report it to 07880196442 (as per the website) by sms with the seat numbers of those involved. Will probably get the usual moronic 'no one likes a grass' comments but couldn't give a monkeys as I also can't stand the smell of vapes.

It's a shame that we still have to do this. My main gripe is that as a non-driver I have to take my passport to away games. I'd like to know if there are additional IDs that are acceptable such as a digital network rail card that has my photo on it or even a photo of my passport.

I understand the clubs stance on this, it is a shame that the system continues to be abused.

It is a fine line for the club the more stringent they make ticketing rules and sharing, we are not blessed with a huge fanbase. The number of tickets remaining on the exchange for this evening is still quite high (for whatever reason).

Dunno. I’d guess 90%+ of a core 1k or so go to almost every away game……..wouldn’t know how many do every away game though. It’s not 2k though - we’ve taken lower allocations than that in the last couple of seasons haven’t we ?
Looking at the mix of people who get on the coach I use (single coach which covers a specific geographical area) there seems to be a lot of churn.

I saw one guy at Chelsea who though a season ticket holder only attended 6 home games last , never seen him at any other away game either. He was with someone who hasn't been to any other away games and wasn't a season ticket holder. Not sure if that game went to members.

Just read it - don't really care what the EPL or club rules are on away fans in the home areas - if they behave I'm sure as hell not going to report them.
Exactly this. The unwritten rule up and down the country is that away fans in the more docile of home ends are tolerated if they behave respectfully. That goes for most clubs and I suspect there are no more than 3 or 4 clubs where that isn't the case these days. Personally I've been in the home end for West Ham about four times now.

The club is pandering to some of the most intolerant gimps imaginable here, yet I don't really blame them as it is part of a wider ticket distribution issue.

Be fascinating to see fan-by-fan attendance %……..how many do 100% and downwards. I probably do around 75% and am comfortably in T1 even for Bournemouth, maybe there’s 1000 or so that do the vast majority of games (Bournemouth tiks sold on day 1 approx). Agree there’s probably a lot of churn below that, people picking and choosing their games

Please don't hunt me down if you follow this advice and it turns out to not be correct....

...but, I am all but certain, that the club have previously confirmed that they are happy to accept a screenshot of your passport on your phone.

It states on the t&c’s that away fans are allowed in 1901. Hardly playing with fire.
My point is that it’s playing with fire letting them sit and celebrate in areas with majority home supporters. I’ve seen several instances where it’s unfortunately got nasty and they’ve been escorted out.

The club do not view, rightly or wrongly, the 1901 areas as the home end of the ground.

I've been in the home end a number of times. Villa, Leicester, West Ham and Spurs to name a few. In some cases I've been with friends but in others I've struck up a conversation with the opposing fan next to me and been quite Interested in the opposition perspective. Key rules are obviously to sit on your hands, avoid the more partisan areas and don't be a twat. Sitting on your hands used to be a piece of piss when we got beat regularly. I've got no issue with people doing the same.

The exception seems to be Liverpool. They are like cockroaches. They are everywhere whenever we play then home or away. Liverpool away was a bizarre atmosphere this year and the Cowabunga cup game was similar. I was surrounded by them. The family East was like a home end. Given the timing, it would suggest those 2 games tipped the scales.

If they want the other side to win they should piss off and sit in the other stands. It's not sad, I'd hate to be sitting next opposition supporters, especially the plastic fans of the so called 'Big 6'. I want to be in amongst passionate Albion fans and know body else.
I want to be amongst Albion fans who know the difference between know and no.
