RIGHT thats it...........You and Lord B need to realise that not everyone who reads NSC reads it 24/7 (like me) and takes into account every single post EVER!

Most people more than likely have NOT read previous threads about the lack of council elections therefore are asking questions about the possiblity of them.

Mayb there should be something in Falmer Campaign Central about this and not stupid posts everytime someone says some re the elections.

Use common sense guys please :glare:

Since when was North Stand Chat the prime source of your local political information?

There is always the Arsegas, or City News. Then there is THE LACK OF VOTE LABOUR/ VOTE TORY POSTERS. No smug over-opinionated twat hammering on your door to vote for them. If anyone knew anything about local politics (as plenty on here seem to, especially with the advice that they are happy to impart), they would know the council election in Brighton & Hove take place every three years, and as we had election last year, ... you do the maths.

I highly doubt most people do know its every 3 years, I did'nt, I could go down the pub tonight and ask everyone and I bet at least 75% of people will not have a clue! To think that "plenty" of people who read NSC know the be all and end all of local politics is ridiculous.
Just because you do does not mean everyone else does :shootself
You need to look at the picture from a non-political persons view and realise that some/most/minor majority of people dont give a stuff about politics, especially local!

So what is Prescott waiting for?
It depends upon what Prescott has to work with.

This is my piece of speculation (originally posted a few weeks ago):-

1. If he has an Inspector's Report that recommends "NO", it's the easiest thing in the world for Prescott to issue a decision that says "NO, for the reasons set out in the Inspector's Report".

2. If the Inspector recommends "NO" and Prescott wants to say "YES", then Prescott has to make sure that his reasons are fully explained. He'll also want to get his lawyers to look at it, to ensure that he doesn't leave scope for his decision being challenged in the Courts. That can take an age.

3. If the Inspector recommends "YES", and Prescott wants to say "NO", the same thing applies.

4. If the Inspector recommends "YES, but with conditions" and Prescott wants to say "YES", then the lawyers need to be satisfied that the conditions are reasonable. That takes time as well.

The longer this drags on, the less likely it is that (1) is going to be the outcome. It has already been acknowledged by Planning Minister, Keith Hill, that post-Inquiry representations will be taken into account. That justifies our current campaign.

Keep the Faith!

What I meant was, with plenty of people seemingly happy to try and screw Prescott/Caplin/Labour at the polls, you would have though a little background research as to when they were wouldn't have gone amiss.

BTW, why does Ivor Caplin get it in the neck from so many people so much of the time when it's land in David Lepper's constituency we are talking about here?

I didn't know about the elections - but like many others I don't live in Sussex anymore, so it's good to have it pointed out!!
