It's a flamin' corker AP....... true colours emerge all over this board when a thread like this id posted.

Yes, that's right - an accurate description of your views on Michael Moore, as I recall. I eventually got you to admit calling him a liar was wrong as you didn't have the facts to back that up. You got off rather lightly I feel.

And yes, inattentive is well abusive :lolol:

Talking about this thread revealing true colours, here's a lazy, racist jibe.

Then you recall wrong. You misjudged my motives for deriding Panorama and I got called dishonest when I defended my position.

And I will say again, I stopped watching Panorama after the pensions and seroxat programmes (ie in 2003), not when Maggie told us to.

Tell us your views on other BBC journalism then, the Today programme for example?

Today programme - Sadly missed by me I'm afraid since I started working at home. Used to be firmly locked on my car radio for at least 1 hour every day until 2001. I have never detected any bias in its reporting, or laziness. Some of the questioning is too hectoring suggesting the presenters have too high an opinon of themselves, usually resulting in me shouting "let them answer the question!"

Radio 5 live is my normal source of BBC radio news now and is sadly a bit lazy and too keen to peddle its own agenda. You get the truth eventually but headlines are sensationalist. For example there was a recent story about a judge sentenced for child pornograpy possession. I was in the car for 3 hours that day and heard many times the headline story "Judge spared prison". Eventually the story gets a full run and you find that the Judge got a harsher punishment than would be normal and well within the sentencing guidelines. Next headlines "Judge spared prison". In your words, gah!

BBC News 24 - my only regular source of TV news since we got rid of Sky. Far too much opinion touting rather than news I'm afraid and very difficult to tell what is true and what isn't. No obvious political bias but an awful lot of agenda in its stories.

That's an interesting reply, m2OGull, in those 3 programmes that you cite, you find no evidence of bias at the BBC.

So you can't obviously believe that the BBC's news output is riddled with bias and distortion then?

No evidence of political bias. Stories that they report are biased and distorted, just not for any obvious political reason.

It is most easy to see when a story is reported with which you are familiar.

I'm just trying to find out from you if you think the BBC news ouput is riddled with bias and distortion, and that they are the worst offenders among news organisations. Yes or no?

Dense and Racist..... you're racking them up matey.

Why is it that any comment is twisted by you into a personal slur?, I was simply stating that your views of the comments made by m20 might not get the same response if it came from a fellow irishman!................. maybe right may be wrong, but how can that be construed as racist?.........,.

The same old story...........

Riddled with bias and distortion - yes, but not the usual "pinko, lefty" bias you thought I meant. Today I might exempt but don't know from recent experience.

Worst offender - Depends whether you include Fox! I would say worst of the UK TV news services I have experience of, yes. They use too many commentators and don't stick to news. They distort stories, sensationalise when it's not needed and rush to judgement. In my opinion, of course.

So, in a thread started by AP that was designed to expose lazy, racist prejudice, your great contribution is to drag in my Irish background and say I only agree with people if they're from Kilburn?

M20Gull - you exempt the BBC's flagship radio news programme from bias and distortion, yet the rest of BBC news output is riddled with bias and distortion according to you? How come? Why are one group of BBC journalists doing OK and all the others who get the same training and work in adjoining corridors failing? ???

You exempt the BBC from political bias, yet still say it has "bias"? What bias is this, and where does it come from? What "agenda" does News 24 push if it is not a political one? Sensationalism in reporting can indeed produce distortion, but not "bias" towards a particular pre-determined viewpoint (the correct useage of the term "bias"). You need to explain what viewpoint the BBC journalists are trying to "bias" us towards if it is not a political one.

You further state that the BBC is the most biased and distorted broadcaster in the UK?

Worse than ITV and its widely acknowledged tabloid values - Bill Neely storming Saddam's empty Basra place in full combat gear like some pisstake from the Day Today? Tonight with Trevor McDonald with its key interviews of Faria Alam, and Michael Nicholson wandering up and down Iraq bleeding his personal angst into the camera?

Worse than Sky News and its widely respected segment show host, the non-commentarist Richard Littlejohn?

The actual reality is that BBC is the most distortion-free, agenda-free, most professional broadcasting network to be found ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. This is its national and international reputation. Even after the Hutton hatchet job on the BBC, opinion polls show BBC journalists are trusted to tell the truth by a margin of 3 to 1 over the government that the British people actually choose!

I find it deeply odd that you give the likes of ITN and Sky a pass, yet the BBC is "riddled with bias and distortion".

Why do you do that?

I didn't contribute an opinion on the thread topic, pay attention man, I stated a view that you would jump to the same old tired conclusions and comment you always do, attempting to use your journalistic (and perhaps irish) background, to brow-beat the rest into submission,............ your modus operandi never changes, every contentious thread you contribute to is the same, blind 'us' all with 'science' until we feel so inadequate that we couldn'y possibly comtemplate winning an argument with you. Even if one of us has a valid point, you simply drive over it with what is usually a 'cut and paste' quote.

I will repeat, I have not opined on the thread topic, just you, perhaps in some peoples eyes it is one and the same thing.

Once more, Somerset. What has my Irish background got to do with anything and why do you feel the need to constantly draw attention to it in this thread? Why is it a SUCH an issue for you? I am 2G Irish and was born in Kilburn. SO WHAT? If I was black and born in Brixton, would you be constantly bringing that up to too?

Now FFS, explain how anyone can use an "Irish background" to "browbeat the rest into submission". Have you caught me sending out my small army of leprechauns to do evil work on other NSCers?
