I imagine that Hitony took into account the fact that he was such a new poster too. A new guy coming into town and throwing abuse is likely to generate a stronger reaction than a long standing poster.

I'm fine with it. I can't get my head around getting a ban for posting on a list like others have done. Ok I put a NSC members name down which was inappropriate of me but it's no different from any other name put down.
As for calling someone a wanker after I was called a wanker is very inconsistent isn't it?

Different mods are different people. Hitony took the action he did. There is a long tradition of mods not commenting on the decisions of other mods. A tradition I intend to stick to.

To be honest, I don't think the length of membership should have any bearing on a moderating decision. If someone does something that is deemed to be worthy of a ban, it shouldn't matter whether it is that poster's first post or whether they've got tens of thousands.

As it happens, I don't think what the OP did was worthy of a ban. Particularly given that a long-standing poster did EXACTLY the same thing in last year's thread, but didn't get a ban. It's decisions and inconsistencies like that which can undermine the moderating system on here, IMHO.
