Agreed, no chance. VAR upgraded it to red after all.
All the TS and MOTD pundits felt it unfair along the lines of:
”Such a brilliant tackle, the impact of the leg with the ball created the movement that wrongly makes it look like a bad foul”.
”VAR shouldn’t have use of slow-mo’s, end of. Gives a false impression”.

When I read stuff like this, I do wonder if that were our player I'd be genuinely thinking "He got the ball first - never a red".

Rubbish (and I'm not suggesting that you are agreeing with their interpretation - you don't really state either way), that's a red all day. It's not the impact of the leg with the ball, it's the impact of the bottom of his foot with the leg.
Very obvious red. Do they still give additional suspensions for frivolous appeals? Did they ever, or is this something I dreamed up?! Regardless, this should qualify.

Then I hope they all agreed that Bissouma shouldn't have been sent off a few years ago when he flicked the ball high up and caught an opponents head. 100% uunintentional, 100% a red card.
One of those that looks bad in slomo. I thought a yellow was fine and the ref got it right at full speed. It’s more or less a textbook sliding tackle - dragging his other leg and in control. Wasn’t excessive force. Just unfortunate that as he won the ball his foot bounced up. Doubt it will be overturned though.

The fact that his foot deflected off the top of the ball makes me think he's going to have the red card overturned (unfortunately).
