Such a difficult subject for me, Harry.
Sixty six this year.
I do care - I watch every game on TV or on a stream if I can find one.
My little office upstairs is full of Brighton and Hove Albion books, memorabilia and general Albion tat.

I used to attend at least 35 games a season. Season ticket holder at the top of the loyalty pile.
Round trip to home games for me was (is), around eleven hours, six of them on a sh*t*y Thameslink train which has become increasingly unbearable over the years. Or a six hour drive and then find parking or an overnight, then train in.

So in 2017, I made the conscious decision that in 2018, I would give up my season ticket and travel to a just a few home games.
But In the end, I couldn't go through with it, so kept it on for another Premier League season.
Then Covid hit, which made it much easier, gave up the season ticket and I've only attended one game since.

The worst bit about it, was to tell mates who I met at games, what I was going to do.

Honestly, I don't miss it - maybe a bit last season and this season in Europe, but the travelling was getting into my soul, and I can use the extra day a week for other stuff.
And I can moan about VAR to myself and my heart's content. Plus I can still watch most games, like all the other plastics 😃

I honestly think I did my time, and can leave it to the youngsters now. The game isn't the same one I used to watch anyway.

Respect to you for still going 🙏🙏 And to everyone else.

Give em a shout from me.

Does having a w*** include nine minutes of added on time? God help you if VAR are involved when it comes to reviewing, um, an off the ball incident.
More like the Luton away match this season, game over after a couple of minutes.

I am struggling with my health now, and my age and my mojo.....f***ing sciatica the latest bolleaux. The drive has become monotonous. A match costs me 7 hours, travel and that. Faversham is practically in Belgium. I'm 66 next month.

Well, I do care and always will. Even if I have to give up my season ticket. The occasional visit to the Amex would be wonderful.

I can understand, if you have to work on matchday, or have a young family, these are distractions. Possibly insurmountable.

But anyone who has the time to log on to NSC to start a great long thread about how they are a bit bored with RDZ, and would rather be having a wank that watching The Albion can f*** right off as far as I am concerned.
Sunday.

If this thread is a reaction to the ‘I just don’t care anymore’ thread then it seems very the harsh. The OP in the other thread is not blaming Brighton, RDZ etc. They are commenting on a change in how they feel about football.
Perfectly fine, also, I would have thought, to comment on a lack of change in how I feel about football, shirley?

If I need any more reason to emote, perhaps I could mention I'm a tad irritated about being roped into, variously, the 'Potter fan club' for not wanting him defenestrated, the 'RDZ licker' gang for not condemning RDZ as a pound-shop Bielsa, and the 'Bloom clique' for not demanding Mr Bloom double the size of the North Stand and singe a world class striker. However I won't.

2) Would rather be having a **** that watching The Albion
And, of course, with modern dodgy streaming services, it's perfectly possible to take care of both at the same time.

66 IS NOT "OLD". Eighty could be considered old, maybe, but not 66.

NSC has its moments and this is one of them. Sometimes its worth turning it off for a while, heaven knows I do everynow and then, infact my last turn off of NSC was for over a year, can't remember why, just faded away for a bit...Some fans are fickle, want perfection every game...Want us to be changing our manager at the first sniff of a wrong pass...But we're not like that, and whether I like it or not, they are entitled to their opinion...so I just try (and its hard) to ignore it...Sorry to hear about your health HWT and Z..I hope there are things that can be done to get you back to the Amex...
Is it me or has something changed on NSC in the last 6 months?. I’ve only been a member since 2022 but I can’t remember ever feeling for my own state of mind, I may need to step back from NSC because of so much negativity about the Club, especially our manager - I have generally found it quite overwhelmingly depressing at times - so much, I even tried starting a ‘positive things to say‘ thread but those plastering their ‘bored’, ‘RDZ out’ messages on other threads soon derailed my positive thread - it’s weird, it’s like even trying to defend the Club, the players, being realistic of who we are, celebrating any achievement, seems to attract a negative response at the moment- the derogatory ‘happy clapper’ epithet, or worse imo apparently being ‘anti-post-match rant’ and an RDZ ’worshipper’ - there seems no space to say ‘it’s crap but guys, it really isn’t!’. I have most of these ‘RDZ out’ threads on ignore now, but as I said the other day, it’s a bit like wackamole sometimes - as soon as you put one on ignore, another pops up 🙄

Has NSC been like this in the past when Brighton hit a long dip in performance? It does seem quite excessive to me for a forum that is specifically set up for fans that ‘support’ the Club. Is it all because people are feeling an anti-climax from last season or something more pervasive and long-lasting?

Perhaps my definition of ‘support’ is just different that’s all - maybe certain STHers feel paying hundreds of pounds a year is supporting the Club and entitles one to be as negative about the club as possible - or travelling a few hundred miles in a car (try 500 on public transport during overtime bans!) entitles one to a sense of moral outrage when players fcuk up on the pitch?

It's all OK really.

I didn't mean very much by my post last night other than what it was. A brief bit of emoting.

The reality on NSC is that it has grown massively in the last few years so you get more voices and they are not all singing the same tune. It is what it is.

There is too much of it to warrant comment on every post with which one is not in 100% harmony, either  .

The problem of negative posts after a disappointing result has always been here, but De Zerbis willingness to answer questions honestly seems to be getting to a few, and they have lost a bit of the love for him, making it a bit worse. It's the first time in the PL we have had manager not be giving nothing away in press conferences, and with the amount of coverage PL sides get in the press and online, it keeps getting put in front of you.
There is also a hangover being suffered by fans, players and coach from the Europa exit, once we all get over that, with a crushing victory over City hopefully, normal service will resume.

I have the impression that NSC posters tend to be on the older side, so this may not apply on here......

......but a possible issue with the broader fanbase could be that............a 26 year old fan who started supporting when he was 14 has , more or less, known nothing but a successful upward trend for the Albion. Very little in the way of major disappointments and even less that wasn't fixed the next season.

Staggering to think that a large percentage of our fanbase, say all those from early 20s and younger have only had this experience.

It was great before 2022.

(Joke!)

People express their emotions on here. It happens. I always try not to take things personally, to laugh at myself, and to try to be as respectful as I can.

The trouble is, keyboards tend to let people spout things they might never say in an open conversation. That's good and bad I guess. Personally, I think NSC just reflects wider society. We're still more polarised than we've in the past, but I think it's managed well on here.

NSC adds great value, but like all social media, let's not let it take over our lives.

I would think that Faversham is closer to France than Belgium, but whichever it is, a game at the Amex must feel like an away game given the time away from home.

Calais is about 5 miles closer to Faversham than the Amex is and I reckon you could drive from Faversham to Folkestone, get the car Eurotunnel, and be in Calais about 20 minutes more quickly than getting to the Amex (assuming the 35 minute crossing time is accurate).

It was just the last paragraph of your post. I wasn’t quite sure who you were aiming that at. If it’s certain posters and certain threads then fine, if it was at the ‘I just don’t care anymore’ thread starter then I thought it was a little harsh.

You wouldn’t have liked early NSC at all. Binfests and personal insults were rife and the team were genuinely shite!

Much more sanitised and PC these days

NSC has long been like this, maybe we have a more fans on here now given the astronomic heights of the PL that we are at, and alot more fans attracted because of that (some a little fickle it has to be said!). Which means more people to moan at the lows and cheer for the highs, but it will ebb and flow as our fortunes do.

Having been around for a while on here, if there is one thing I know, we all support in our own ways, and this thread is aboslutely proving that. This is meant in the nicest possible way, but people will find doom and gloom in anything. You need to walk on by if you don't agree, otherwise you'll become a target. The only person you will wear down and upset is yourself if you persist, which might be what you're saying has happened. NSC is like life, walk on by the people you don't agree with, and engage with those you do. The challenge is its harder to realise who falls in which camp from a little avatar, and a sentence on a page, the nuance is lost...

Normal service will resume soon, I have no doubt, summer will be long and arduous and silly on here, until we get going again next year, which we will. Until then use the ignore button judiciously!! Or be like me, don't use it, and just read and move on, let it roll over you like the cool winds of the south downs...(which are gale force today)...

I feel for you. I fell over on the golf course in the wet a few weeks ago and turned my ankle and landed on my arse…setting of a bout of sciatic. Years ago I was told I had a collapsed disc and I think it set it off. Bloody painful!

I am not necessarily in the don’t care camp, but I lost interest in this season after the roma game at home. I would love RDZ to stay here and next season start from scratch with a fully fit squad.

With regard to that, I put people who trigger me on ignore. I suspect most of them are perfectly decent, but my autistic wiring means I will go for the full 30 minute argument without a second's thought - if the timing is wrong. Yet gradually I have learned to avoid toxic exchanges. I have some good old disagreements with quite a few people, and it can get heated, but I'd like to think I don't take it personally, and haven't been too rude to too many people recently, (apart from the ****s who know, me, and who I like, of course - fair game :lolol: ).

NSC is an absolute delight, and a haven for nattering as well as all the serious football matters. So many of those who post and read are terrific people, and it is always worth mending any wind-damaged fences (ahem) rather than torching the entire garden. ???
