...............and your fart, would you smell the fart before you hear it???

Hmm...
If you were in a craft of some sort you would near it but if you yourself was flying through the air at the speed of sound you wouldnt hear it because you are on the same frequency i would guess:shrug:

Surely the answer is neither. Particles diffuse through the air at significantly less than the speed of sound, so you would leave the smell well behind. Assuming that you don't suddenly (and I mean very suddenly) slam on the brakes, the sound waves would also have disapated by the time that you've slowed down enough for them to catch up with you.

If you were flying head first the fart would have the same forward velocity as yourself minus the square of the velocity of the fart so the answer is 'maybe' depending on how hard you fart.

If you were flying feet first, then you would have the same forward velocity as the fart minus the square root of the velocity of the fart so it is more likely that you would smell it (especially if it had bits in.)

Clear?

I don't think you would.

As you fart you will move away from it, and as you move you would create a backdraft blowing the smell away from you.

Smell doesn't travel, it is carried by air.
