Shoreham always looks good to me. Funky old town by the sea and the river with decent pubs and 15 mins by train from BN1. You could do a lot worse.

I had a snoop around there a few weeks back and was pleasantly surprised. Didn't used to be a bit of a dump ? So, hmmm worth a think and as has been said places like Amberley and Chichester are in that direction. For some reason I seem to be drawn to east sussex. What does this say about me ?

Well has to be said that Shoreham is still pleasantly shabby. Nowt wrong wi' that IMHO. It's how the North Laine was for YONKS before the Londoners moved in. And that's one BIG uncrowded beach on yer doorstep. Oh, and it's got that excellent Olde Indian restaurant in the REAL High Street with real beams to crack yer head on, and hidden drop steps to bust yer ankle over. And the new flats, for new flats, in the harbour, seem reasonably priced and reasonably nice. Me like

Sullington
Having growd up in Storrington, and seen during my lifetime the village being pretty well ruined by new developments, I would want to go back to the same sort of area...my choice, if I could afford it, would be somewhere like Amberley, Bury or Fittleworth.

Only lived in the Storrington area for the past 10 years & its the nicest place I have ever lived - which new developments are you referring to????

I moved there in 1971, before the Sunley, Davidson or Hormare estates had been built...in fact I went on a primary school field trip to the area behind the cricket pitch, when it was open fields and home to more types of wild plants and animals than you could shake a stick at....my grandad had an allotment where the houses at Post View are, Timberlands was still woods, the Precinct was still being built and the population was about 2000...mind you, half the village were related to each other, so it wasn't all good.
