If I was the England manager I wouldn't come out with the usual rubbish post-match excuses, I'd simply tell the truth. For example, after Saturday's dismal performance I wouldn't have blamed fatigue for the poor showing I'd have said: "These are the kind of results and performances you have to expect when you have players like Darren Bent playing".
I'd rig every player up to some kind of switchboard where I could electrify any player at any time I felt necessary. That way If anybody was constantly running offside or was continually giving away possession they would receive an unpleasant voltage through their body. I reckon the improvement would be dramatic...
1. would not pick anyone over 25 for a start,
2. only pick players who fit the systems you intend playing,
3. have no dreams of winning anything for the next 8 years,
4. build a team for the Europeans after the next world cup
