I love the progress of NSC developments in recent times, such as the blog, Tapatalk and vbulletin update. Some suggestions:

a) Please let us have larger avatars! Not massive avatars but a bit bigger than the current max dimensions and file size.

b) The ability to embed video from not just YouTube but also other sources such as Vimeo and Viddler.

c) A directory of Albion-related sites
http://www.superseagulls.flyer.co.uk/index2.htm

Albion related sites Rapper...some may be out of date now but it might help. a bit

If you don't mind scrolling to the top of the page you can do that already.

Under the menu bar below the header is:

[Home icon] > Forum > The Albion > The Big Board > If you ran NSC...

Each blue bit takes you back to that section, i.e. clicking 'The Big Board' takes you back to the big board with one click.
By the time I've done that someone could have transcribed the whole thread for me.

1. New Threads can't be started by people with less than a certain number of posts. 100 seems reasonable, just to stop wind-up merchants appearing from various clubs and flooding the site with a number of pointless provocative site.

Completely agree with this suggestion. Spammers take advantage of their ease of thread-starting, as do timewasting rumourmongers.

Personally, I don't care if someone is instigated to join because they know something thrilling - put it in an existing thread and let's not have attention grabbing with speculations they "can't quite confirm" but they get a kick out of telling us.

Is spamming really that much of a problem on here though? We don't get all that many of them and hitony usually sees to them pretty quickly on most occasions.

Well I guess it would be up to the mods to say whether that inconvenience is bearable, or Bozza to see how it necessitates moderation and the need for people to do the dirty work. Yes, threads dedicated to spam would be easy to spot, but in the cases of posters joining specifically to wind-up or create mischief and false rumours, it's not so simple...except for the perpetrators.
That's what Gritt23 is getting at, and I agree with it.

Whilst I see your point, I believe that for every wind-up post that is removed, the board may lose out on valuable contributions from opposition fans who will probably only want to post maybe twice a season when we play them, but might have some really interesting views.

I'll answer the point being debated...

From a personal point of view, there have been forums I wanted to get involved in, but either...

i) As a guest you could not view much, so have been asked to register to even view discussions,

and/or

ii) New joiners are in some sort of probation period for some time until they can become fully involved.

...and I've found the experience hugely frustrating. As such, as things stand I'll be very reluctant to do either of those things and I believe the moderating burden from newbies is light and is far outweighed by the positive benefit of having new folk able to join and participate within a minute or two.

Without sounding like toadying to the boss I am 100% in agreement with this. New posters DO have something relevant to say at times, and if they are complete bellends we can make their lives not worth living anyway.

It is also elitist and unwelcoming, which surely goes against the grain of what NSC should be, especially in relation to having more than treble the number of regular fans watching the Albion.

splitting out football/non-football, for one thing it be embarrasing being a football supporters forum with more posts about non-football related subjects and also, as mentioned by others, it can be pretty hard to moderate effectively.

Never. Always gets voted against in the past. Everything on one page is what sets us apart from the rest.

Without sounding like someone who likes to try to ingratiate themselves with someone who is quite obviously not toadying up to the boss in any way whatsoever indeed nothing could be further from the truth but I must concur :D

What 2 things would you change (where changing can also include adding or removing something) on the site?

One thing you're certain would make an improvement.

One thing that might be chancier, and you'd reverse if it didn't work.

Ban Me perhaps, but must be irreversible !

1. Outright bans for wind up merchants & trollers, fishers, one warning, then out, for good.

2. Posting restrictions on new members, 10 posts before they can start a thread, including compulsary 'introduce yourself' post in appropriate thread, 25 posts before they can post links.

Superphil, I think he was looking for ideas to improve the board, not just a policy of censorship.

Nothing wrong with posters from other boards airing their views and having banter....be a bit boring if we all agreed like a set of nodding ducks.
