True Story :

'Schuey' buggy kills OAP


A PENSIONER died after being struck by a mobility buggy decorated to look like Formula One driver Michael Schumacher’s racing car, an inquest heard yesterday.

Ernest Carpenter, 86, suffered head injuries when he was hit by the 8 mph Shop Rider, driven by Peter Jenkinson, 66.

Retired postal worker Mr Carpenter, of Saltdean, East Sussex, had been leaning on his walking frame on a pavement outside Eastbourne Pier.

He regained consciousness at the scene but died four days later.

The buggy had “Michael Schumacher” emblazoned on the back and Ferrari badges on the sides.

Mr Jenkinson also wore a Ferrari hat, the Eastbourne inquest heard.

Verdict: Accidental death.
