The dull part of the south coast
Oh my! Decisions! Decisions! So many to choose from :

F.A.Cup 4th round v Chelsea in 1967 in front of 35,000. Promotion winning match v Rochdale 1972. THAT second half when we put 7 past Walsall with Ward and Mellor on fire. The League Cup tie (1-1) against Derby in front of 33,500 fans - Derby at the time were League Champions. Beating Liverpool 2-0 in the F.A.Cup 4th round in 1984. But, the winner is . . . .

February 1976 v Crystal Palace (2-0) in front of 33,600 on a superb evening. It had everything - passion, hate, tension, unbelievable noise and the first real airing of SEAGULLS!!! A cracking atmosphere and the first genuine grudge match derby. Please bring me the time machine!

Yes Rev....... This night although Derby was special. I was in the last year of school and had to pay a quid from a school mate to get a ticket for my brothers friend to go. It was only the packet of ten gold Leaf that secured the deal.

MARCH 1997 . Brighton 4 - Leyton Orient 4 - I think it was John Robinson who had to wait for ages at the end to take an equalising penalty for Brighton. It was also the game when the " brighton 1" ran onto the pitch and attacked Ray Wilkins . He got a jail sentence . It will always remain one of the most ridiculous and exciting football matches I have ever been to . Wilkins free kick against Ipswich - as it seemed to bend the wrong way and of course the 4-2 win over Newcastle where debutante Bryan wade scored all 4 goals after fat Micky Quinn had put Newcastle 2-0 up . WE NEED MORE GAMES LIKE THESE - COME ON BRIGHTON !!!!!

This maskells second bullet header, we were still cheering the first then bang ,me dad and best mate surging down the north stand ,superb stuff .punk::rock::albion2:

87/88 V Bristol Rovers. Bright spring day, packed Goldstone, victory and promotion. Nelson and Bremner, jumpers for goalposts.

It was a bit rough in the north that day, my Dad wasn't amused

The atmosphere would have been great but for a couple of things

1) A few Brizzle that seemed to be unable to find the away end and ended up in the wrong place.
2) The surge to get on the pitch at the end. Joking aside this was scary. An entire section of the North funneling through "P.C. Beard's gate" with the fences still up. Gave you a small insight in to Hillsborough the next year.

Still I can remember every sight, smell, sound and the unbelievable joy as the final whistle went clearer than any match at Withdean with, perhaps, the exception of the opener against Mansfield.

The Walsall 7 - 0, after an abysmal first-half and a Mullers hairdryer....the second-half was a dream.

A similar thing happened when Manchester City beat Sheffield Wednesday in mid-week with seven second half goals. The sad thing is, nowadays, such is the financial gap between the top two teams in the country and everyone else, it barely registered as an astonishing result.

Too many to choose from...

The quarter Final V Norwich
Fans United day
When we beat Pompey 1-0 in the cup in the 90's
Millwall in the play off semi's when we scored 4 in the 2nd half
Ipswich at home to win 2-1 in 91
when we drew 2-2, 3-3 won 2-0 against Liverpool and even the 1990 cup replay which went to extra time that we lost.
Even the 1-0 win V United in November 82

I guess out of all of those, it's got to be the Ipswich game with Wilkins' free kick and Digweed's penalty save for me.

Sorry to be pedantic, but we only scored 3 in the second half.

They went one up and we equalized in the first half. I think it was Mark Barham? Don't you remember it bouncing off their defenders back in front of the north stand and leaving him completly free with the keeper to beat?

The second half was a 'Sunday afternoon stroll' all the same.

Hate to dampen the old memory but Liverpool were champions in 75/76. Derby had been the previous champions but they still had a host of household names, Todd, Davies, George, James, McFarland, Hector. I'd only been going to the Goldstone since the back end of the previous season so it was quite momentous to see those names at a 3rd division ground and we pretty much held our own.

Quite right! My error, I will now thrash myself with birch twigs for this oversight.

After rekindling many fine memories from the Maracana of the south, I am making the following 5 additions to my previous top 15 to make it a round 20:

16. 3-3 Liverpool 81 - Jimmy Case bullet header, 3-1 down, the Reds shell shocked. Oh yes.
17. 1-4 Liverpool 79 - I know we lost but it was amazing to see their players on OUR pitch. We were taught a lesson that day.
18. 1-2 Chelsea 83 - Electric atmosphere, 'orrible away fans as you know.
19. 3-1 Mansfield 77 - Back to the top of the league. Wardy bags another brace.
20. 5-1 Preston 78 - Gerry Ryan debut, 2 own goals, Ryan involved in 4 of the 5.

Tottenham 78 still remains my one game I would revisit. The 70s for the Albion was something very special.
