Yeah, where's Hitler when you need him?
I was born during WW2 and there was never this much violence back then.

Just far enough away from LDC
I agree that none of the current top politicians inspire confidence. From a Tory perspective it needs someone like David Davis the former shadow home secretary. Grew up on a council estate, worked for a living then got into politics. Not sure if Cameron would appoint him though.

can you imagine a bunch of apes like the edl running the country.Them and the bnp are the real scum.At the end of the day black, white, yellow we are all human beings.

If the EDL trained their "Muslamic Rayguns" on this lot they'd soon stop.

Lab have failed me after voting for many years. I absolutely hate the Tories with a passion, so I will be voting for someone else. If we don't individually make that change at the ballot box nothing will change and we will still be moaning about the same things.

Can it get any worse than it is now?

I want a party that stops talking and actually takes some action. The only party I can see that might make some sort of difference is UKIP.

People have said in the past they are racist, but I cannot see anything racist about their manifesto here.

Its how I actually feel about this country at the moment. It ticks most of my boxes. If I am missing something here, let me know, because I certainly would not give a vote for racism.

All three political parties have lost the trust of most of the public and voting is at an all-time low. The extremist parties are even worse and represent some of the lowest scum in this country. Let's face it, no-one really knows what to do and politics in this country is pretty f***ed.

I can't wait to move away.

EDL? Even though we're currently governed by the selfish rich Im not sure people would vote in a small group of fascist morons. That would just be a odd.

They might make a vote for change. For an alternative. Let's list all the alternatives shall we..

A change? EDL? They're living in the worst parts of the 1970's. You must be fishing.

No. I am suggesting that a lot of people are very unhappy about this situation and the perceived lack of action from government. Outside of the three main parties, two of which are sharing power against the public's wishes anyway, there is what? The Green party? Independents? The BNP and.. who else?

I don't understand how asking what the alternatives are on the far right, far left or even the modest centre could be considered 'fishing'?

Also, I find that a very feeble reply that has crept into NSC in recent years along with the four lettered laziness of 'this'. Just because you may disagree with people, or a person may have a view which may be more outlandish than yours and/or others on the forum, they aren't necessarily 'fishing for trouble'.

Fishing is an enjoyable past time and if you want to start a thread about actual fishing, go ahead.

I am actually amazingly disgusted that the EDL has got even one vote.

I am a Tory, but I did well under the Blair goverment and worked my balls off under the Major years.

Yes, they are similar. They have ALL made mistakes, but those who moan and moan need to look at their own situation and help themselves in tricky times. You cannot simply blame a government for your own situation.

The problem with this country are the lazy, feral, workshy. I am sure many of those rioting and looting last night are from this group of people.

Those considering a vote for an extremist government.... Well, firstly your vote will be wasted, as fortunately too many ppl in this country have some sense, but if an extremist government were to get in power, maybe we can look forward to scenarios like 1930s Germany, 1990's Iraq, 2000's Venezuala.

By all means criticise our leaders. They are accountable, but also remember:-

We have a relatively stable economy with less than 10% unemployment
Everyone has enough to eat
If you find yourself out of work, your family will have a roof and you will be fed.
We are one of the safest countries in the world.
We do not have crazy high taxes.
We have a police force we can generally trust.
We have a reliable supply of fuel, water and other utilities.
Generally we are well regarded by other forward thinking countries around the world
Generally we have an inclusive diverse society.

These things would change with an extremist government

I think people now are sick of the same old failed politicians, wankers who have never done a days work and have no idea what it is really like for the normal British person nowadays
Case in point is Boris Johnson. He's f***ed off on holiday and hasn't bothered coming back to deal with the massive issue we have at the moment. It's this false assumption that lots of posh people have that the world just shuts down in August whilst he goes off on his very long holiday, because that's the way it's always been.

Maybe if politicians were required to work for a decade as well as live for 5 years in the constituency they stand in, we'd get the politicians we deserve.

The current government is overseeing what we are witnessing now; is that the fault of the Lib Dems? Because this is currently one of if not the most unstable governments in our history. Maybe all the signs are that a change to the far right - or far left - is in order?

But it's not an alternative. The EDL aren't a political party, the BNP didn't even get a seat last local election. I'd be happy to see The Greens rise to be the 3rd Party, I just can't see why the EDL keep being mentioned. Why mention a racist group after the aggressive window shoppers that arent race related? If you weren't fishing then I apologise, I just don't understand the OP.

Not exactly a well constructed poll. No UKIP or Green options? The leading two alternative parties?

Apologies for the poll being 'poorly constructed'. Feel free to vote 'Other' and then post your opinion here.

I have said this on a few other threads but it is worth repeating. The current party political system is entirely broken. All the major parties are not focused on the best way of running the country, but on the policies that will make them seem most appealing to the middle classes. All this whilst refusing to stand up to the rich, or put another way, the people who fund their election campaigns. The people at the bottom are not even considered, the gap between rich and poor in this country has been increasing unchecked for 50 years. At the same time the number of people voting had decreased, after all why vote if it does not make any real difference to you. Until all the major political parties refocus on the people they represent rather than making sure they win the next election these issues will continue to get worse.
