Even if that stat was correct there is a small matter of actually winning games and making sure we do not draw or lose to many, goals for is not the only factor, our priority of course is a striker/goals, but strength in depth is the main key of any team, and we do not have that.....yet.

You do, however, need goals for in order to win games.

I like your way of thinking! Barnes will probably get more than that too (I'd say at least 35 between him & Murray).

I think writing us off at this early stage with the quality we have in our squad is ridiculous. I could understand if we had lost a big player (Bennett, Murray or Calderon for instance) - & before you mention Crofts, I believe we have replaced him well enough with Sparrow.

Our squad has actually got more quality than it had at the end of last season. Yes, it's a bit thin on the ground, but Gus has not given up on getting players in.

Lua Lua is more likely than not going to come here until at least January, so that should be the left wing sorted. . Taricco isn't exactly a bad back-up to have with his experience (remember - that's all he would be BACKUP).

We currently have 2 midfielders that we know about (Camacho & Hughes) on trial. I'm pretty certain one of those will sign.

To quote GP on the striker situation: "Maybe I am trying to get players who are too good and we cannot afford them". This, to me, sounds positive, because at least we are going for a QUALITY striker, not settling for rubbish. He is looking at "five or ten more" this week, so what's to say we cannot persuade one of those to take on the challenge of firing us into the Championship?

At the end of the day, if one or even 2 of the positions are not filled by Tuesday, what is the panic? The loan window is still open. We could still strike a deal with a team to get someone in on loan until January & either have an agreement in place that we can buy them for a certain fee, or assess them while we look at other options.

Finally, it wouldn't be the end of the world if we missed out on promotion this season. Blitzing League One in our first season at Falmer would be a great opportunity to pull the crowds in.

Very impressive, what do you base this theory on and have you taken into account the inevitable suspensions/injuries?

yes of course, i was not saying we do not need anyone, or the goals ratio is about right or wrong, but we need to be solid at the back as well and so far, not briliant of you inc bookings. its not BAD but needs improvement

The most league goals Matt Sparrow has scored in a season is 8, which was in league 2.
Since then he has scored 3, 5, 5, 4, 6, 1.
To expect him to get 11, in his first season for us, is asking A LOT.

He has scored 2 in one appearance so far though so...
(and that was against Swindon, one of the teams expected to be in the play offs)
