Can we cope we loses of 8 million for a decade? Next season could see the peak of our income and this would fall for possibly for another 9 years.
This could leave us with an operating loss of over 100 million and and still owing our benefactor 100 million,when would the point of a overseas investor come into play and who would pump 200 million in to a middle table championship team.
Worse case scenario but possible if we can't squeeze another 8 million pounds from our fan base or get promoted.

Neither of these scenarios is likely given the clubs recent announcements and Paul Barber's appointment

The club have already stated rather loudly that they intend to trade within the FFP rules - have you not been paying attention recently? If Paul Barber cannot manage that, be sure that someone else who can will be brought in.

As for why the club lost 8m last year, we do not know yet because the accounts are not yet available. As to who will cover that loss, then I think we know the answer to that already.

who's gonna make up the 8 million,my share would have to be another £960 which i would not find,in fact i would cancel my original £1,000 that's going towards the club,i think you have hit the nail on the head poor financial management,sticking more seats in does not mean more sth in the long run.

Raising revenue is something many clubs can do but can only go so far (pricing fans out etc.). 20k fans paying £30 a game gets more than 15k fans paying £35 a game (not to mention lost revenue from pie/beer/programme/etc. sales). There is a line to be drawn somewhere that is affordable for enough fans but clubs can't go beyond that. I think Barber is trying, understandably, to strike this balance.

However, I think the main cost for all clubs is player wages.

No ONE club can't pay substantially less than the rest else they risk relegation so it needs to be a concerted effort from ALL clubs at the SAME time (which is what I assume FFP will ultimately do) to reduce wage bills. Obviously, what with contracts etc., this can't happen overnight hence the staged implementation.

Seems to me that FFP and parachute payments will work together to make it even harder for new clubs to gain promotion. "you're not allowed to take any financial risks, oh and by the way we're giving your rivals £12m more than you"... welcome to a new yo-yo era...

Parachute payments make a mockery of FFP. The playing field needs to be level. I understand that clubs need PP to stop going bust, but really any player who is funded by PP needs to be ineligable to play. That way contracts are honoured, but the competition isn't skewed.

Nice, but won't happen.

Any club wanting promotion will need to operate pretty lean, get good crowds paying good money, raise a few youngsters, make a few shrewd signings and get a fair share of good luck. I don't think that will ever change.

If we can't get promoted in the next season or two I can see TB flogging a big slug of his shareholding and some uber rich taking over and doing a dodgy sponsorship or naming deal or something to allow the cash to be spent to seriously push. Dunno it's an option I guess.

Is this problem just a UK or worldwide re: clubs losing money, how do the German leagues fare I wonder they usually have a good grasp of economics, while in the UK we frequently pissed money against the wall, like their is no tomorrow. If it's a worldwide, then the players wages are the problem and HAVE to fall, no point in loads of clubs failing so a few greedy footballers can retire at 35 with millions (although this probably only applies to the prem, I suspect a lot of championship players will have a couple of million by the time the hang up their boots - unless they piss it away on rubbish.)

I agree with the general thought, we have above expectation crowds and they still can manage the club financially then something is seriously wrong and HAS to be addressed re the cost of running the club. The supporters will vanish if they are squeezed too much and we will end up with a half empty stadium as you see at a lot of clubs.The premiership is the dream and the cash bonanza that comes with it possible the only way Tony will get his money back, unless costs are cut.

Personally I'd have a squad of 20-25 max, younger/inexperienced players can be brought from clubs in the lower leagues if they are really promising. (How many players actually come through the ranks to the first team, how much are they sold for and what is the overall cost of the few who do, plus all the ones who fail, nice as it may be to see local lads coming through.)

Does no one else think it may be more than a coincidence that our losses are just within the permitted limits. We won't be paying tax on our losses. I think Bloom knows what he's doing.
