If they built a slide from the upper west to falmer station...

you still in hh? The fire station in mill green road had a pole* - perhaps you could go and try that one first? Assuming, of course, that a charity shop/99p shop has not moved in there.

* last visited mill green road fire station in +- 1973!!

Re the slide/zipline - have a look at this http://www.karkloofcanopytour.co.za/. It's bloody marvellous! It would not be too hard to set up a series of platforms throughout brighton to get you back to the pub/station/home asap.

Visited said station in 1976 to seek assistance getting my shoes back from the bus station glass roof, managed to get them back only to lose them in lindfield pond on my 18th birthday!:moo:

Due to the water shortage they will now pump real ale down the slide, this will keep you moving and warm during the winter, but the down side is you will come off the bottom in sandals and a beard!???
PS ALSO YOU HAIR WILL START TO RECEDE WITH CONTINUED USING:ohmy:

DON'T WORRY ALL ALE WILL BE RECYCLED BACK THROUGH THE PUMPS FOR THE FOLLOWING FIXTURE!

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
bloom is missing a revenue trick here, we need to build Gully Land in bennets field, a kids theme park with albion themed waterslides, rollercoasters etc.. pre match entertainment at its highest (literally)

One of the attractions would be the managerial merry go round, with the horses named after previous incumbents.

No wonder i had no friends in that god forsaken hole that was the heath! ???Recall the excitment when a coffee shop opened in south road!:clap2::bounce::clap2:

O come on - the Dolphin Fair was enough excitement to last the whole year! I remember when Eddie Kidd turned up once and had to start his run right up near the playground at the top of the hill. Good job they removed the goal posts!

I was at that, bloody good if i remember correctly and probably the most exciting thing to happen in the Heath for a decade.!!!

It was bloody good - cannot remember how many cars he cleared, but it was a lot! Probably the most exciting thing in the Heath, ever!

Although the notorious near riot in Vicky Park between Oathall and Warden Park during the school hols, that was covered on the local BBC news, comes a close second. That was probably the Rev and the other naughty boys.

I'm going to have to admit that I was part of that, on the Warden Park side. I was younger than most being only in the 3rd year. We all met at the Dolphin, walked up via various footpaths avoiding roads to Vicky Park and at that point I sloped off, being the big brave boy I was.

Our head master, Trethowan, went nuts and called a special assembly where everyone who was there was told to attend and he actually nutted one of our 5th year.

Happy days.

Yes, I was in 2nd year - went down to the Dolphin for something or other and saw everyone there. Then cycled down South Road to see what was going on.

I remember the school assembly on the first day back - I remember we were all sitting there and just heard this huge bang as he came in to the hall and marched up onto the stage - he scared the living daylights out of me! Trethowan could certainly go beserk when he wanted to. Didn't know he nutted someone though!

I still think they should put in a ski jump from the WSU upper. Would save plodding down those steps after every game. Perhaps a ski lift to take us up??? Even if you have to put on the ski jackets, skis and poles, these could all be removed whilst in the queue for food and drink (with a few minutes to spare as well probably).

If you remember the assembly he told everyone that was part of it to stay behind and if he found out someone had left that was there it would be worse for them.

I think the guy he nutted was Jez Barnes, although my memory isn't as good as it should be.

I don't remember that, but it sounds right - he scared pretty much everyone, so he could say that sort of thing and know that everyone would stay behind! Would not get away with that nowadays though.

I do know that several in my year were there as were several in the same year at Oathall who I went to primary school with, one of whom was reported to be carrying a bicycle chain under his flat cap! I also remember loads of kids on Muster Green ready to walk down to the park and South Road crawling with police.

Not our finest hour, I have to say.

That would have been Piglet, him and a few of his mates cornered a few of our lot in Woolies.:lolol:

What a bunch of tossers we all must have looked, 14 to 16 year old trying to act out scenes from "The Warriors"

I believe the Argus front page that evening was "POLICE HALT GANG CLASH"
