I remember talk of Sheepcote Valley back as far as the First Division days.

I don't remember Sheepcote Valley as such but definitely Waterhall was discussed even before we were in the 1st. Bamber said the club desperately needed a bigger, more accessible ground with better transport links as opposed to one stuck in a nice residential area. Tying it in with a new station and the proposed (and executed) improvements to the A23 and A27 it seemed the ideal site.
