They had the new ground before going into administration. If it had happened during the construction period the chances are that the building would have been aborted
Construction group Birse has seen its profits fall 82% after writing off a £5.5 million debt from its dealings with Leicester City.
The group said the loss, which resulted from bad debt related to its contract to build the club's £30 million new stadium, pushed pre-tax profits to £1.2 million against £6.7 million last time.
Operating profits in the year to April 30 were £1.1 million against £5 million previously.
Birse said, however, that before one-off costs, pre-tax profits increased 29% to £6.7 million from £5.2 million.
The group said in October that Leicester City's slide into administration would affect profits. The Birse Construction arm built the club's new Walkers Stadium.
Birse wrote off all monies that the Leicester City Group of Companies owed to the division after administrators were appointed to each of the club's operating companies.
A consortium fronted by former City and England striker Gary Lineker rescued the Foxes in February.
But Birse said the administration process had not raised any funds for Birse Construction.
Birse chairman Peter Watson said it would continue to monitor the situation.
But he added: "It would be misleading at this point to give any encouragement that any material amounts of money will be recovered."
