If only David Cameron would follow the Australian lead.

its probably a sensible move

the article says "New legislation proposed by Australia's Coalition government, expected to be introduced within weeks, will enable the government to remove Australian citizenship from dual nationals who take up arms or support militant groups at home or overseas.
More than 100 Australians are thought to be fighting with Islamic State and other extremists in Iraq and Syria, and the government in Canberra estimates that up to half are dual citizens."

By their own figures this only affects 50 people but it only takes one of these mad muslims to cause carnage if they return........good on the Aussies!

Did you actually read the article? Including the bit where it explains that what they are proposing is an option that the UK Secretary of State already has?

Yes I did, thats why I posted it with the title it has,the Auystralians are being pro-active about it, there is more chance of being struck by lightning than theresa may using her 'option ' or 'broad discretion'.

Haha. BrillIant. A thread about what he thinks the PM should do and the PM already has that option. Absolutely priceless. Absolutely typical. Absolutely thick.

Funny how people's perceptions differ. My perception is that she would be deporting people for failing to pay the congestion charge within 24 hours if she could.

Talking about this on the radio today. Bit of a worry that someone has only to be 'suspected' in order for action to be taken. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

.....and not actually be suspected of doing anything just thinking about it.

You can make your own 1984 reference here.

What about the case highlighted in that article, where that thuggish terrorist sends his whole family to Syria? Presumably then, they're all stripped of citizenship. What happens when his wife (only guilty of following her husband, probably out of fear) wants to return to Australia with her kids fearing for their lives?

The devil is always in the detail with this sort of law.

Up to 2011 13 people had their dual citizenship revoked in this country by the home sec due to terrorist issues..........10 appealed citing the human rights act..........how many do you think won their case?

This is where you need Tony, he doesn't give a shit about human rights. Not even the human rights of the children he keeps locked in detention centres on remote islands.

View from Oz,Tony may have balls because he sure has no brains.

The Libs improved in the polls recently after a period of silence from their esteemed leader.

True our treatment of children in the detention centres shows Tony at his worst and us as a nation.

To be fair though it is fairly bi-partizan. Labor were not much better on this score.

Race to the bottom is about right

The point was obvious, he intends to use it vigorously, compared to us, we will no doubt have to jump through so many hoops to revoke a single wanna be terrosrist, we will end up inviting them back in a tagging them, whilst the culprit has an entourage of lawyers and human rights specialists and this is the Tories.

Some on here are quick to point out it is already an option, but I suspect you lot would have absolutely no intention to use it, why I do not know but its seems to be your default position.
