If John Prescott says No

Just waiting for the inevitable soundbite from Prescott congratulating Hull on their promotion and their lovely new ground - raising the profile of the City, contribution to the community, civic pride etc. etc. He's bound to do it, surely

Let me try and explain my logic:

If the answer was yes John Prescott would have nothing to gain or lose by announcing it now.

If however the answer is No it is in both his and his party's interests to keep this announcement until after the end of the season thus minimising the possibility of demonstrations and shows of solidarity and even more bad publicity for the government.

I believe that the delay in announcing his decision is consistent with the manner in which this government lead by Tony Bliar has huffed and puffed their way through.

As I have said I am known as an opponent to Falmer as I have always considered that not to be the correct site, however, the club has stated that there is no alternative site and as such I have no choice other than to back them and hope that permission is granted.

Unfortunately nobody has come forward to answer my original two questions mainly where do we go from here if the answer is No. Perhaps Lord B could answer them. To quote our old leader "to not prepare is to fail"

seems you know f*** all!

your questions HAVE been answered if you have been reading.

for TP to say no would be against everything the government supposedly stands for ie. developing grass roots sport, promoting more excercise (half hour a day?) not least losing thousands of votes at the next election.

I do not think that the loss of votes will make any difference in Brighton as Ivor Caplin will probably be defeated on other issues.

Where have my two questions been answered I must have missed them.

Hope you don't mind but I have taken the liberty of ammending Ben's post...

Let me try and explain my logic:

If the answer was yes John Prescott would have nothing to gain by announcing it now but lots to lose if the Nimbys decide the correct procedures have been followed and not enough time is given to demonstrate via the EDM and other factors that the decision is in the national interest thereby overriding objections based on building in an ANOB.

If however the answer is Yes it is in both his and his party's interests to keep this announcement until after the end of the season thus maximising the possibility of demonstrations of joy and shows of solidarity and even more good publicity for the government ahead of a possible early election in the Autumn.

I believe that the delay in announcing his decision is consistent with the manner in which this government lead by Tony Bliar has huffed and puffed their way through.

As I have said I am known as an opponent to Falmer as I have always considered that not to be the correct site, however, the club has stated that there is no alternative site and as such I have no choice other than to back them and eat humble pie when permission is granted.

fortunately somebody has come forward to answer my original two questions mainly where do we go from here when the answer is Yes. Perhaps Lord B could answer them again. To quote our old leader "to not prepare for the correct is to fail to arrange a party"

I was told yesterday that a senior person at the club has the same concerns as me about a No answer whether this is a personal or official view I do not know, I believe that it is probably a personal concern.

With respect, this sort of "I know a man who knows a bloke who told me his Great Aunt Fanny danced with Lloyd George" stuff is hardly startling "inside" info, is it? Even allowing for the accuracy of your sources, the consequences of a 'No' decision are known to be very stark. And were made entirely clear in public statements made by the Club when Hoile's ludicrous Local Plan recommendations were originally published.

And it's precisely because of those stark consequences that thousands of Brighton supporters have been working their sodding socks off for the Falmer cause over the last couple of months. So what is going to be the outcome now? Well here's another "personal view" to run up your flagpole...

The Fat Bloke from 26 Whitehall says "YES"!

Still nobody answers my question.

If he says No is there any other form of appeal or course of action open to us. A simple Yes or No will suffice

A simple yes or no? Why use one word when 50 will do?
And, as Newton said: "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction". Does that help?

Seriously, yes. There is always a remedy for appealing against decisions that are considered perverse. It is called a judicial review.

Right if it is no then the club can take things to court but they need a strong case and it will cost megabucks to do this, the anti stadium brigade will consider this if it is yes but once again it will take ££££££££££££££££££.
So what other options do we have.
1. Apply for an extension at Withdean, whilst a new site is identified.
2. Ground share.
3. Fold

If Prescott says NO you can all come and support Charlton and then we will have some decent away turnouts and a good old sing song

Sorry I have already promised Ali I'm going to become a Reading fan if Brighton go out of business. ;)

Now you are thinking that if another site is found it will go the same route, public enq, and John Prescott, it may or may not.
And your first question will remain unanswered because we can only guess.

It seem an inappropriate time to be negative.

Martin Perry has said if the decision is NO, he would look at the reasons why and implied that he would take legal advice whether or not it is worth pursuing any further. Probably not, I think.

It is the wrong time, because the decision is not even imminent. It will not occur before the end of this season.

Or the beginning of the next? I think we will start the next season still waiting for the decision. But we will have a Manager!
