Can't believe all except Empire have said the 22nd. If I said something was happening next month, would you think I meant the next month which comes along, or would you think I meant August?
I have voted for 22nd, but if you had told me face-to-face, I would have checked which you meant, just to be sure.
NEXT Wednesday is the Wednesday in the NEXT week.
THIS Wednesday is the Wednesday in THIS week.
Unless you say "the next Wednesday". Which would be the next Wednesday which occurs.
Is this person a SHE-type.
As this thread reads like a situation that arises in Stat Towers, weekly.
Usually when somebody posts "A good point, well made" they are being sarcastic. In this case, however, it is, and I'm not.Next month means "the next month which comes along", because we are currently IN a month. We are not currently ON a Wednesday - if we were, then it would "mean the next one which comes along..."

I'd probably vuvu2 you, for laughs, if such a fine smiley was to exist once again. What if I was to say C U NEXT TUESDAY?
Strange comment. It is the type of question that would bamboozle the current Mrs Giraffe (sorry Mr Wogan)

Would you think I meant Wednesday 15th June or Wednesday 22nd June?
Assuming I said it today (Monday 13th June) that is.
What if I was to say C U NEXT TUESDAY?
