Being honest, I'll be a bit meh IF he was reappointed. It rankles the way he left and the comments about easy life and history lessons etc etc but, he knows how we work, knows most of the players and we got results with him. He's better defensively than Roberto and let's be honest, our defending was woeful at times and cost us last season. As for the passing sideways? Yes, we did that a lot but how many times did we just want us to shoot rather than try and walk the ball in the net(a lot of games) last season!! It was as frustrating with Roberto as it was with Potter.

I remember Alan Mullery leaving us and after Charlton going on to manage Palace, he came back again. Just saying.

Potter being re-appointed would disappoint me in that I’m finding all this possession based football a bit boring but I’m telling myself the tactical grass is probably not greener on the other side.

It's also worth remembering, that Chelsea made Graham Potter so insanely wealthy - that it's less likely that he will be tempted to leave again once a bigger club comes calling. Not to mention, he won't forget the stress that his stint at Chelsea caused him.

I predict that he'll come back stronger and more motivated than ever - it'll be almost like he never left, as he pushes us on back into European contention.

Even those who are currently opposing him, will be singing his name once again, as it becomes evident a top, top former manager has returned.

Dream on, have you not seen some of the unhinged comments about him on here from quite a few who give him zero credit for what De Zerbi inherited?

I think people are getting their arguments re RDZ and the potential of re-employing Potter intertwined.
They are very separate;
FWIW, I think the club were right to come to a mutual parting of the ways with RDZ and ‘executed’ the plan very well. It was well managed. RDZ parted on good terms with the club and the fans.
Also FWIW, I think the club have no plans whatsoever to re- employ Potter. It would be a massive PR own goal. However, why should they state anything, just let the rumours roll. If it’s someone who is less than exciting then the relief that we haven’t re-employed Potter will make up for the lack of excitement.
If I’m wrong and it’s Potter, then I’ve mis read PB and TB significantly.
They're biding their time and letting it sink in, a lot of the comments have softened...

Despite this bizarre resentfulness a majority of Brighton fans seem to have against Potter, he is by far the best remaining candidate for the job (that we know about).

He is a great manager and would be a magnificent appointment.
Potter’s win ratio at Chelsea was lower than De Zerbi’s at Brighton.

Does his ongoing payments from Chelsea cease if he goes back to full-time employment?

Potter’s win ratio at Chelsea was lower than De Zerbi’s at Brighton.

RDZ had the luxury of inheriting a quality organised project that Potter built.

Potter had the misfortune of inheriting a chaotic shambles of a team at Chelsea, and wasn't given any time to fix it.

As has been mentioned before we have had plenty of people leave the club for 'better opportunities ' before.
Apart from the manner of Potter's leaving and taking so many of the coaching team I think the fact that Chelsea have taken so many of our players and staff members before and since Potter's departure have potentially made them more disliked than even Palace in recent years.
This probably increases some fan's negative feelings about Potter even more than would have been the case otherwise.

Not really - the Potter-babes are just more vocal, the others can’t be arsed.😉

How about this for a purely hypothetical compromise ( because we’re still in La La Land with all this don’t you know 🙄)

If Greyman is the best currently available, we take him back on an interim contract until a better manager comes along - at which point we tell him to fcuk off within 24 hrs and take his team with him regardless of how well he is doing..

Fair?

Name them and he’d prefer all of them, the guy is so anti Potter he’d probably prefer Pardew
I’ll give it a go, as I don’t want him back…… 😉
I just want something/someone different.

Amorin
Gallardo
Nystrom
Pieminto

Seriously, I don’t know much about any of them, and whilst I respect the job Potter did in turning round a playing style, which really isn’t easy, I don’t think returning to a club is necessarily a good thing (unless your Mourinho).

See Mullery, Adams etc…

I know he’s just signed a new contract but I wouldn’t mind us going after the Bournemouth manager

Latest oddsfest suggest Henrik 2nd favourite behind Potter.
Unless any of these bets have been placed by Tony Bloom then that’s basically irrelevant

Still took it to another level though, but yes Potter certainly laid the foundation, as did Hughton defensively before him.
