If we did lose then I can't see us getting anything from the other games and I have a feeling Cardiff would at least get 1 win from their games v Palace and Fulham. A win for us and I reckon we'd be safe, and a draw would probably see us need 1 win from the last few. Lets hope we find some form on Tuesday.

If we did win then it's game over as can't see them picking up 9 points from their last games

Sorry to say all this speculation is pointless (excuse pun) and actually not very entertaining.....
Hughton has it right when he says the team need to turn up and defeat Cardiff on Tuesday.... because there is no choice.
That's all.

...will they finish above us?

Cardiff's Fixtures
21/4 Liverpool (h)
27/4 Fulham (a)
4/5 Crystal Palace (h)
12/5 Manchester United (a)

Our Fixtures
20/4 Wolves (a)
23/4 Spurs (a)
27/4 Newcastle (h)
4/5 Arsenal (a)
12/5 Manchester City (h)

I'll be genuinely bricking it if they do manage to beat us. As I wrote earlier in the week, Warnock will be thinking that if they can beat us, they'll fancy their chances of 4/6 points from the Fulham and Palace fixtures, which would really put the pressure on us.

Cardiff play before us on the 27th which could make for a testing late kick-off for us against a Newcastle side that seem to be in decent form and who will be able to play with the freedom of being safe.

We need 4 points. Cardiff have potential to gain 3 wins.

If we lose I suspect momentum will mean we don’t do it. A draw and we’ll do it with a fair bit of pain. A win and it’s all over. Ffs

Id take a draw right now, certainly, however whether it would be enough, who knows. I can see cardiff beating palace and fulham so we'd need at least a point at home to Newcastle ... (We won't get anything out of our away games I'm sure!)

Agree - I’d take a draw now based on our abysmal form - I reckon that would be enough to just about keep us up - fingers crossed

Get ready for a 1-1 result on Tuesday.

Another draw against Newcastle and we'll be ok.

However, if Cardiff do beat us, then I think we're finished. If a 5-0 reverse at home is not enough to invite a bounce back, then nothing is.

Could just as easily see us beating Cardiff, Newcastle and Wolves and all this hysteria over a tough second half of the season and a particularly bad day at the office will be a distant memory. Remember Palace after we beat them? Apoplectic meltdown about Hodgson. Now they’re home and dry. That is football. The difference between fighting relegation and being mid table is very slight.

3 Points against Cardiff
1 Point against Wolves
3 Points against Newcastle

There's our 40 points
Seven points from the next three games? It has taken from the 2nd Feb 2019 to gain exactly that. I admire your optimistic vision but don't share it.

Tuesday is our last genuine chance of points. Newcastle are more than decent and have a very good front three just now.
That's bull, you're not allowed to play 2 up front let alone 3 it's against the rules.

If they turn us over Tuesday I'm sure our chums in Croydon will take great delight in handing them another 3 points on May 4

Not sure I'll be "bricking it" if Cardiff lose. Relegation is to the Championship, not league one. The Championship is an excellent watch and we tend to win games there and the alternative appears to be another season being spanked by not only the top six clubs in the country but everybody else we play too.

A relegation to league one from the Championship is an unbeatable thought though. I don't want to do some of those shit grounds for a good while thanks.

The trouble is the club really needs to stay in the Premier for financial reasons or we end up making huge losses year after year.
