Idle thoughts about 2016-17 Season Ticket pricing

I would have thought a easy major win to try & gain thousands of ST holders would be to guarantee those buying a half season one at Xmas immunity from any Premier League price increases

We don't pay by game but by month, not many will join the protest march if we go up and your DD remains unaltered

It still what you effectively pay per game, that's why I said my ST is under £24 ie per game. You are right though in that the DD will mask any increase due to the lower number of games.

Don't forget there are only 19 home games in the top division, not the current 23. You can also expect fewer Saturday 3pm / Tuesday 745pm slots than we have now.

So I don't think a 10% rise will feel good, especially if we lose more than we win.

I suspect that after one season, I'd be quite happy to be relegated. I just enjoy the unpredictable nature of this league and we are never going come close to challenging the top four in the Prem.

Look at the figures. Assume sell outs in the PL and an average of 25k this season with average seat price of £30 (I don't know what it actually is but my season works out at under £24)

2015/16 25,000 x 23 x 30 = £17,250,000
2016/17 30,000 x 19 x 30 = £17,100,000

So, keep the prices the same, the club lose £150,000 over a season. However, I read somewhere that the average spend at the Amex was £10 per person so that is wiped out by increased sales (5,000 x £10 x 19 = £950,000)

If the club raise prices by 10% they run the risk of not filling the Amex (as per the Goldstone in 79-83). They'll make a an extra £1,710,000 which is a pittance compared to the £97m they will get just for being last. As there is more money the higher you finish, the club might benefit from a packed Amex spurring the team on (one place higher than bottom gives another £2m).

It makes no sense to increase the ticket prices unless they are looking just to cash in on one season in the PL!!

In the last set of published accounts (2013/14), the ticketing income for that season is stated as £10.4M from an average gate of 27,283.
Merchandise and catering income combined was £2.6M although this figure isn't solely attributable to match day sales (ie includes online sales, event catering).
As LB has indicated, you've also included the VAT as income.

We need to be positive...I can see on promotion Tony Bloom selling out to Arab who will Pile 100s of millions into Club(we`ve got the infrastructure) and within couple of years the skies the Limit.

Whilst I partialy agree.....Sadly, All the main players in prem are foreign Owned..Bloom like several of the lesser prem owners only has hundreds of millions. Isn`t it a fact that Bloom whilst mega rich to you and me is not so in Prem Football terms. A Sheik Mansour type buyout would surely see us move forward.

Yes, but that could just mean that they paid the year 5 rate from the start.

1901 will now be going up each year.

There's a difference between bankrolling a stadium for a club that needed one and buying a team of superstars to walk a league.

We got out of league 1 and where we are today through (some) good performances on the pitch delivered by players obtained by relatively modest means.

Strange though it sounds I think I agree with you dude, this is a brilliant league, totally unpredictable. Who, last year would have thought it would be Brentford, Watford and Norwich? But it would be terrific to spend a season in the top flight again. The memories of the top footballers at Goldstone (Hoddle, Sammy Lee etc) will live long and it would be nice to have another such season or two...

Being positive is someone who has supported the club since a kid selling it to a richer person with no emotional or historic ties to Sussex, and who wants it as a vanity project?

If that's the case may we long stay in this division.

Understand where you are coming from, but I'd rather we stay up and Palace were relegated.

It will be a survival battle, but not an insurmountable one.

I would imagine that the club would charge as much as they think they can get away with. Which the current model. The £42 match day tickets (I know there are cheaper available but they are standard seats, nothing special) are second only to Sheffield Wednesday's £52 in the Championship, and our cheapest season ticket price is higher than almost every club in the league.

I would guess £50-£60 match day ticket prices in the Prem.

You're ignoring travel voucher though.
