Two iconic musicians. One iconic venue. An iconic song .
Chet Baker is my favourite musician of all time. He just gets me right where I feel it .
For us this gig.
Lucky in getting free tickets that were frantically sought after by thousands of fans.
On our doorstep, 20 min drive and a great night of music.
This is Sparks perfection, I go back to this time and time again, the BBC do these intimate gigs incredibly well. The musicians gathered by the Mael brothers at that time, perfectly dovetailed their genius.
Ive always loved this Van Morrison performance at The Band's farewell concert The Last Waltz. Ive never seen him look so ebulliant with all his high kicks near the end of his performance.
He reminds me of the normally well behaved kid at school who's being led astray by his more mischievous classmates so he acts a bit naughtily in order to try and fit in and be accepted...
The more the others respond to his antics the more outrageous his behaviour gets but you can still tell that he's not entirely comfortable with what he's doing as it doesnt come entirely naturally to him. A natural introvert trying his hardest to be an extrovert ..Its a marvellous watch.....
Their last three albums have contained some of their best songs; I don't think there's a duff track on Hippopotamus.Seen them so many times, they never underperform
