Yes, there's an airport bus that meets every flight, but its quite expensive, around 12 quid, I think.

It goes from the airport and stops at all the hotels on route

Don't insult the women. In fact, don't even show any hint of even indifference.
My brother lived there for a year, and got off to a bad start when he was asked by his hosts what he made of the local girls - he, being a bit of a misery anyway, shrugged that they seemed all right, and was treated as if he'd delivered the gravest of blows to national pride. Apparently they stick by the story that Icelandic women are the most beautiful world, being descended from the collection of the world's finest that the Norse invaders had, ahem, cherry-picked on their travels...

Then again, I can't see what's so tricky about appreciating the Icelandic women - my brother must be gay.
Now I think about it, I'd better let his wife know.

EDIT - Oops. Didn't notice the dates of posts. Ah well - Wozza be learned, an' all...

Spur - your brother is indeed a gaylord. The Icelandic women are OUTSTANDING. Just go to the main shopping centre in Reykjavik and enjoy. Even the ladies working in McDonalds are quality!

Also, somebody suggested that the locals may come across as rude. I have worked on 4 or 5 trips to the country and honestly, they are the most freindly people I have ever come across.

For an individual recommendation, there is a little Italian up the top end of the high street on the left hand side. The food is decent, reasonably priced by their standards (£10 for a pizza), but the whole staff of 8 waitresses look like a casting for select models.

Enjoy

Been working there on and off recently and although pay was great, beer is around the £7 mark and its not even a full pint. Women are unbelievable though.
