Why? It’s not exactly unusual for a player to sign for a club 6 months before joining them - we did the same with Adrian Mazilu just this season for example.

Joao Pedro did his medical a couple of months before his move happened, and the deal was announced before last season even finished. By the sounds of it, this move was supposed to happen in January but was delayed by agents bickering etc. It's therefore perfectly logical that all of the other details had already been completed.
