Leeds pulled the plug on his loan to Cheltenham yesterday, and I have it on good authority that he would jump at coming back to us if asked.....he just wants to play !!! ;)

Would have been a great replacement for McLeod while he was injured! Shame, always liked this player, great attitude

money, money, money. unless one of your directors or whoever dug deep for savage is prepared to do the same again he won't be coming even if asked. bates/gary mac would rather let him rot in the reserves than pay him to play for anyone else. he came back from cheltenham because they couldn't afford his wages and bates told them to do one.

that sounds about right for Misterbates complete wanker who should not be allowed to run a football team. But then again nobody other than desperate Leeds would allow him to.

to be fair, i would not pay my staff to drive lorries for eddie stobart. i would rather they sat in the tea room and read the paper than worked for anyone else.

Well Cheltenham and hypothetically ourselves are hardly in direct competition with Leeds (though strangely we were when you DID loan him to us) and receiving a part of his wages plus putting him in the shop window is surely preferable to paying the full whack for him to do nothing.

Even Bates must realise it would make more sense to get him off the wage bill than pay him for nothing though?
Maybe he has upset someone at Leeds, but they seem to have a good squad and will most likely go up this season, no point in rocking the boat by keeping a player who you do not want to play an will only be more annoyed at not getting a loan chance.

I would like to see him back at Albion, not flair but a good solid midfielder who would provide balance and experience.

yes but the part of wages on offer is the problem.

like i said above, if someone is going to dig deep ala savage then bates i am sure would be interested, but until then, no dice.

he can't rock the boat when he is not in it, he does not train with the first team at all. he runs on the youth/reserve pitches and no where near the first team.

letting him go on loan to a club who will only pay £600/800pw of his wages is not something bates will do.

i like him, always thought last season he would have done something but no room for him now. good luck to him.

And I think that is a good point, I would far sooner have Westlake than Savage. I have only seen Savage against Leeds and the whole experience seemed a sideshow.

I am not sure what the idea was bringing Savage to Albion, but surely he will not be kept for any longer than the month he is due.

He wanted to be put into the 'shop window' to attract offers from clubs in a higher division but unfortunately I think that his dsiplays, tidy as they may be will work in the opposite way as he has shown he is not commanding in this division so probaly wouldnt cut it in a higher. Perhaps he should have accepted Wrexhams offer.

Do we REALLY need another midfielder? (yes, I realise we're kinda shite at the moment)
Well the problem is that currently all our midfielders are much of a muchness. Savage, Thompson, Fraser, Livermore, even El-Abd all play the same sort of game (with varying degrees of success  ). We need someone with some pace and a bit more cleverness in there.

Is that not what Ayinsah is supposed to be doing offering us pace and tricks and directness.

He's not a central midfielder though BG. You need one player in there with a bit about him even if not a so called "creative" midfielder which is a rarity in the modern game at any level, someone quicker, who can carry the ball and pick a forward pass. None of ours do that. The closest thing we have to that at the moment would probably be Cox.

My point is that isnt Ayinsah supposed to be the man who has pace and ability to carry the attack forward, even on the wing so the ball winning midfielders and the likes of Savage and Thomson lay the ball to him for him to run with it. Where do we find another Paul Rogers from?

Basil Fawlty

Don't Mention The War
I would seriously considered taking him, because when he was here last season. He was the only winger, who could get down the byline and produce a decent service to Forster and Murray. This means Cox can go to reserves, and Westlake can be brought in on the left hand side.
