I am not bothered about it, is is just I know 100% that whatever I say, whatever opinion I have, you , if you reply to a thread are absolutely guaranteed to take the complete polar opposite view. I actually find it quite funny now as it is so predictable.

Think what you like mate.

If you'd typed "Ian Holloway has always been a very limited manager. An utter dullard, who covers his shortcomings with funny soundbites", then I'd have AGREED with you.

If you typed "we ALL loved Holloway, before he joined Palace", then I wouldn't.

So why should the owners take credit, they are the ones that have screwed it up.
I think they did screw up letting Dougie go, but I don't really know if they had a choice or not. I suspect they could have tried harder to keep him. But as much as they deserve stick for losing him, they deserve the credit for getting him in the first place, and for building the team they have. Ultimately, the Chairmen are in charge and responsible, and since they've been there a few years, they deserve the credit / blame for finishing 5th.

But it's unrealistic to project Freedman's excellent run through to the end of the season, because that just doesn't happen, esp not in this division, this season.
Indeed, if you projected the run they were on up until mid November, they'd have won the league - but we're not saying that. They were playing good attacking football and most would predict that Dougie would have got them more points, and with the benefit of hindsight (ie, knowing that few other teams were able to mount a challenge) that could easily mean second. And we're not talking about cherry picking stats here, we're simply looking at the way they played under Dougie, and the way they have played since Holloway has come in - most Palace STHs will tell you how they're not playing with the same width now, how they're not getting the best out of Zaha or Bolasie, and not providing Glenn with the chances they used to create.

The facts are, to our surprise, Dougie started to do a very good job for Palace, and Holloway ruined it.

All very true, but this does all stem from Holloway stating the simple fact 'you should all be happy with fifth'.
He's not really taking credit, he is covering his arse, but he isn't lying.

I guess it's a fairly moot point now, as im sure the cretinous oaf has now babbled some other bollox that we can all turn on.

Bascially, the fans aren't happy with their recent form, which they blame the manager for. He's trying to turn it around by saying don't have a go at me, you should be happy with fifth - which is laughable, because it's not his work that got them fifth. They're right to be unhappy with him.

I find it incredible that they could win only one more game all season after the Paddy's Day Massacre and still secure a play-off spot fairly comfortably. Similarly baffled by how Leicester snuck into 6th. Hadn't they been shit for a while? Strange league. Definitely fancy us against Palace but we have to be on it. A line-up of: Koosh; Calderon, Greer, Upson Bridge; Bridcutt, Hammond, Lopez; Orlandi, Buckley, Ulloa would make me very optimistic.

I reckon we should be chanting Holloway's name at Selhurst.

He's done an amazing job (for us).

Mind you, the Argus is doing a pretty good job for Palace - this week alone we've had three days of stories about how we are better than them. If this carries on they'll be running out of space on their dressing room walls.

You lot overrate Bolasie and underrate Zaha but that is just my opinion.
I suspect you're right about Bolasie, as we've just seen him do well a few times (TV & at Selhurst etc). I think most of us are aware that Zaha is a very talented player, capable of creating goals (winning penalties). But collectively I think we believe Palace over-rated him, and he was overpriced. When Zaha has the ball it takes a couple of defenders to slow him down, which can only help the rest of your team.

Palace fans seem to forget that we were 4th when Freedman left and Holloway took us to 1st for a few weeks before the Leeds game in November when we lost. Me personally, I blame the fact that Delaney went from brilliant to a bit shite once he got his perm contract (was a loan to January, if I remember rightly) and both Bolasie and Zaha becoming a shadow of what they were the first half of the season. Murray has also gone a little off the boil since all this talk about him getting a 3 year contract

When Holloway took charge you were 3rd (he wasn't in charge for the game on 3rd Nov). Palace won his first game in charge 5-0, and went top - but Dougie deserves more credit for that than Worzel, it's not like the team were playing Ian's style, they were just continuing what Dougie had developed.

Yeah I agree but if it wasn't for them few signings he made on transfer deadline day, his tactics would've left us in an identical position to last season.

He doesnt seem to be being given the same crosses that he had when Freedman was manager as Zaha and Bolasie are not going wide as before. Hollowhead has moved them nearer the central midfield and brought in Dobbie, there lies the problem as I see it, but then I am glad that I can see it and Hollowhead cant.

I agree with the width and crosses point but he also seems a bit lethargic at times

The thing is against Posh they were wider than they have been in previous games but most of the time both Bolasie and Zaha lost the ball (especially Bolasie)

May not have been your intention, but that's reassuring, thank you.

Triggaaar, I am in no way confident about our games at all. I can't see past a Brighton win tbh with you. Unless we recapture that form we had earlier on in the season where I think at the time we were the best team in the league
