Not much wrong with the general tone of what is after all just an opinion piece.

The specific and utterly unjustified attack on O'Grady is odd, though - completely out of kilter with the rest of the article - which sticks to general terms.

Apart from being spiteful and uncalled for - its also completely wrong - not a 'panic buy' - he was one of the first signings, and nor 'one of the most expensive' - Hoskins cost more, and CMS (who O'Grady comfortably out-performed on Tuesday) cost five times as much.

I hate it when people write over-critical stuff like this, then hide behind a line like 'I hope he proves me wrong'. "I've stuck the knife into one of our new players, but I'm still a great fan really"

The comment regarding CO'G is bizarre considering he probably put in his best performance in an Albion shirt so far on Tuesday.

Spot on, I don't think O'Grady has the pace for Championship football but he sure knows how to split a defence apart, unlike CMS. Now if we could just get O'Grady to speed up, and CMS to shoot on target we'd be laughing.

I couldn't make head nor tail of CMS's positional play on Tuesday, the one place he never seemed to be was in a position to receive a midfield forward pass. If he was the defence could just step up to leave him miles off-side.

Craig, if you read this, stop running around like a headless chicken, you remind me of Alan Biley. Just drop back and play a little deeper, use your pace to beat defenders more. It works for Kaz, just have a go yourself.

This thread has been started by a guy who unknowingly ..............

Lets just say this is just like the guy who picks on the little guy in a pub to try and impress his new girlfriend only to walk outside to find the little guy has got s lots of mates waiting to back him up.

By the way I’m in the Harty legend gang, I used to listen to the phone in religiously but I don’t even try and find it on line now!

Surely “Sureya why don’t you go outside and play with the cars in the road” was a catchphrase waiting to happen.

Nothing wrong with it at all, it's an opinion piece and Harty is as entitled to his opinion on matters Albion as much as anyone and plenty more than some on here.

I can't stand the type of individual who basically complains that 'he's entitled to his opinion - as long as it doesn't contradict my own'.

It isn't a good or bad piece because you do or don't agree with it. That is not the idea behind a column. It is an informed, and often highly partial and subjective take on the subject. You'd expect to disagree with some or all of it.

Personally I don't think we are capable of anything like that Palace run under Dowie. In a much weaker division they not only had Andy Johnson at the peak of his finishing powers (we don't have anyone like that) but the likes of Julian Gray and Wayne Routledge ripping defences to shreds in the Championship, and the more experienced Shipperley leading the line.

Plenty of people on the COG thread and before the game on Tuesday speculating that he was a 'get anyone in' striker a la Barn Door Billy or Obika. I'd have to agree with you that on Tuesday he was better than CMS and therefore the timing is a little odd, but it has to be valid to question why a 500k striker couldn't even make the bench earlier this season.

I think your response from beginning to end makes you look a prick to be honest. Ian is a sound bloke and he arranged my mother's funeral too. Given all the positive things he's done for the club who are you to rubbish the man?

Feel free to let everyone know all the things you have contributed to date...

The comment about 'burying stiffs' is unecessary, and its clearly going to offend people personally connected to Harty's professional work.

That aside though, this thread is ridiculous. People queuing up to attack the thread starter for stating his OPINION that Harty's writing is poor, in order to defend HIS right to express HIS opinion. :jester:

I think he is voicing what the vast majority were saying on Tuesday, glad to see Harty still has his finger on the pulse

I see what you did there !

So, is there a scale of defend-able occupations on here ? Is it ok to say, " your views are unacceptable as you are an Estate Agent and it took you 9 months to sell my aunties house " or " I don't care what you think as you were the plumber who took 4 hours to arrive "

in his profession is a deep and caring man.

Now here's a funny thing. Absolutely no slight on Harty at all, but why do women funeral directors like to advertise that they're women and that they're caring? I've seen it a few times especially down my way (I live near the Brighton Crematorium - dead centre of Brighton).

It's all a bit unnecessary and I don't like the implied sexism - that women are the ones who care and men couldn't give two hoots. It puts me off in fact, I have visions of some mumsy-type woman with a Yorkshire accent offering copious amounts of tea, and a hankie to cry into that she produces from her large knitted cardigan. "Ee love. She's gone t'better place. That's it, let it all out. We'll take reet good care of your dead mother"

(apologies, I can't do accents)

"Now, love did you want a wreath with the words "MUM" on it? Summit classy like. And the coffin - maybe some decking but painted black? Now come 'ere love. You look like you need a hug. Fancy a curry night?"

No thanks.
