I wonder what Burke would have done with all this dosh?

His predecessor and now his replacement spend money like it's going out of fashion.
While he had to trawl around the bargain basement, loan list, and youth set ups to try a put a team together.

Obviously all the sheep will instantly start bleating on about how shitehouse Burker was, but it's clear he was doing an impossible job with no backing.
Unfortunately for DB he did the job so well, the money he made is going to make his replacement look like a genius.

It's obvious Burker, and by association Who-pier, were sold short by the club.

Gotta feel sorry for the fella.

Don't agree, he took his eye off the ball big time IMO.

Had this kind of conversation just now. Hyypia was the victim in all this, not the most accomplished manager but our Tony likes a gamble like that. So in he comes, track record poor in recent months but confident he can use his experience and contacts to rediscover winning ways. What happens?

The top goalscorer is sold for top money, and he is given a £50 budget to be spent on players approved by a Burke. Gotta feel sorry for Sammi right now, he even had the decency to fall on his own sword when the club did not have the balls to sack him, costing himself a lot of money.

What money did he make exactly. The players the club sold for a lot of money were already here or lined up prior to Burker joining.
Noone, Bridcutt, Buckley, Barnes and Ulloa. none of these scouted by him.

Yeah he had to make do with our 3rd biggest signing of all time and 10 other signings that he approved that all contributed to the biggest playing budget in history of club. This year looks a lot better but it's a myth to think Oscar or Sami didn't have big budgets. They did. Bigger than Gus.

Yeah you're quite right.
Even though Burker was employed by the Albion, for exactly a year prior to Leo's arrival, he had nothing to do with the transfer.

Please don't make out Burker was responsible for everything that was shite.
Yet everything that went well at that time, Stockdale, Walton, Stephens (not my choice) Ince, is all down to someone else.

It rather cheapens your argument.

Sure there's a degree of fishing here but irrespective of that, the millions being spent this summer does seem to be at odds with last seasons available 'up front' spending.
