...I really don't want to pay £160 for it.

Anyone out there not got Sky that wants to be recommended by a friend (ie ME!) so that we both get a free Sky+ box and only pay installation?!?

If you say that Virgin have made you a realy good deal, but dont tell Sky what it is at first, then Sky will make you a better offer and trto beat the Virgin one!

£99 for the Sky+ box plus £60 installation.

Phoned up twice now and tried to get a better deal but nothing doing, even though I have been with Sky for years and currently have Sky Broadband and Sky Talk as well.

And I am not in a Virgin cabled area!

Will be very hard to get a deal in the pre Christmas rush.

Another tactic to try, say that you are seriously considering leaving as they are being so inflexible. Loyal customer and that etc etc.

But , that MAY back fire and you may get put through to disconnections!

Tried that but as I changed my package to TV/Broadband/phone in January I am locked in until 7/1/09.

Applied for sky + last night.
On line application wouldnt work so i phoned up,
The daft bint on the phone said it was £150 for the box and £60 installation, wouldnt entertain the online price,in fact said i was wrong.
This got my back up so i called cust services, said i wanted to cancel.
Spoke to a very nice scottish gent, ended up NO installation fee and £49 for the box...result.£49 total. worth trying, fitting next tues..

Are you an existing Sky customer? What number did you call for customer services?

We had been with sky for 6 years or so, until we called them and said we couldnt afford it anymore (we were lying).

Anyway they were so desperate to keep us, they offered us the box and everything for free:thumbsup:

to get the best deals you have to get through to the detentions team so you have to be committed to leave. Go all the way as far as actually cancelling, you can always phone the next day and say you changed your mind. I had to pay full whack for sky plus this way but I got them to give me free sports and movies for six months which worked out about the same price. It's all down to who you speak to so if you don't get what you want the first time try again. Another good one I used was email James murdoch with a complaint about the service hiscompany provide.
