the roof only comes as far in to cover the fans , not extending any further, unlike the pitch like the Millennium

Maybe - but its not the easiest conditions and time of the year to be regrowing grass!

Use light arcs, such as the ones Croke Park uses, which run over the grass and shine UV light and spray nutrients in. Used to quickly alter the lenght of the pitch, which had Rugby Union, football, GAA football and hurling on it in the space of 6 weeks this year. It is about a quarter plastic though...

Roof or no roof, the old Wembley pitch has never been that bad in pre-redevelopment days - obviously discounting the Seventies and early Eighties!

Anyhow, it's the same for both teams and professional players should be able to string more than two passes together on it.
