Scott Chamberlain went for a trial in Finland with a Div 2 team along with Chris Winterton a few weeks ago. Winterton offered a contract, but Chamberlain was not.

Out of interest, where is the squad number list? I can't find it, I know there has been information gleaned form the club shop on a couple of players, but nothing I have seen as official. The numbers the players have been using in the friendlies have varied. Crofts for instance has worn 18 and 20 that I have seen, and I think he may have worn 8 as well.

The reason it isn't retired, I guess, is that we're not in the NFL or something similar, can you imagine MU's numbers if they retired a shirt everytime they had a legend play for them, they'd be starting at around 25 now!

Anyway, rant over just like football to be jumpers and goalposts and not hype ... yes I know too old and living in the past, hey ho

I can't really give a shit any more. I'm just growing tired of the struggle of watching everything I work for forgotten about.

That's all right kid, take no notice of them.

I understand you completely - now just slip on this nice shirt I got for you....

I dont get the whole squad number stuff. Who gives a shit?

I certainly don't. At least with numbers 1 - 11 you knew roughly whereabouts on the pitch a player was supposed to be.

1. Keeper
2. Right back
3. Left back
4. Centre half
5. Centre half
6. Central Midfield
7. Left Wing
8. Central midfield
9. Striker (centre forward)
10. Striker
11. Right wing

Simples.

I always thought right wing was number 7 and left wing was 11?

From memory the 25 wasn't used for a little while after Bobby Zamora left, but there was never any suggestion of the shirt being 'retired'.

I think the first player to wear 25 after that was Steve Claridge
who produced a masterclass of how to play the lone striker role in our win at West Ham
