If we end the season with a positive goal difference, we address some long standing squad deficiencies and we've had a decent run in one cup and we've taken either 4 or 6 points off Palace, i'll regard that as a wonderful season

If "doing a Leicester" means defying the odds to end the season in an improbable position then I'd say one of the big boys getting relegated is slightly more possible this season than us wining the league or even getting a Champions League spot. For us to over achieve would need all of the big boys to take points off each other whilst mostly failing to take points off of us and we would still need to somehow beat most of the "other 14" too. On the other hand if most of the "other 14" all were to produce a Brentford like result against Arsenal then a comedy relegation would very much be on the cards.

Neither are likely to happen but if Brighton to win the league is say 500:1, Arsenal being relegated would be 400:1 in my book.

I don't bet on football and these odds are just to illustrate my point, not a real offer before anyone asks!

According to the bookies we have as much chance of finishing top 4 as Arsenal do of getting relegated

Arsenal are currently 33/1 to be relegated....25/1 in some places - same price for us for a top 4 finish.

We are 500/1 to win the league (250 in places) - 6/1 to finish top 6.

We are arguably better than the three promoted teams, Palace, Newcastle, Southampton and Burnley. If we finish above them, and I think we have a fair chance to, we'd be 13th. Then it's only one place more. Don't get me wrong, I'd be delighted to finish 12th, I certainly don't expect to but I wouldn't be astonished by it.

i still think it would be astonishing. I suspect most of the fans of several of those clubs will be thinking they will finish above us.

12th is a long way off still. Although i appreciate its fine margins.

Lets hope we are astonished and delighted in equal measure

Exactly. If we had a striker who could score goals, 12th is possible. If it's the same as last season, then I think 14/15 th is more realistic.
