'Once a seagull, always a seagull' is quite possibly one of the shittest phrases going.

Bruno said it !

Yes he did. What he DIDN'T say, however, was "I promise to I will work for Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club for the remainder of my time on this earth. Regardless of if it goes against what I want from my career, I'll be here forever. Just so that some very needy fans don't throw their toys out of the pram."

To be honest though he’s already had a playing career well above Brighton and played with some world class players. I’m not sure that staying at Brighton to work with a new coach would gain him more than going to Chelsea with the squad they have

The quality of players aren’t as relevant as benefiting from new experiences and techniques in a coaching environment. As you say he’s already played with and against the best, so quality from that perspective is immaterial - plus he’s not playing only coaching.

I guess the only thing would be management of ego’s, but then GP could also fall flat on his face.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder why Bruno didn't wait until seeing who the new head coach was - and what new coaching approaches he could learn from him.

What a wasted chance to expand on his coaching exposure.

Tony would not have booted him out of the door, and would Potter really have only offered a "now or never" opportunity that wouldn't be open in a month or two ?

This strikes me as not particularly well thought through but until I hear his reasons I'll not know for sure.

Bruno got offered a job to be a coach at a CL team, and one that is in the mix for winning major trophies. We would all take that opportunity.

Well given the club have a ‘we won’t stand in your way’ policy , Bruno obviously saw a better opportunity with Potter at Chelsea , being on the sidelines in the Champions League this week than sticking around.

Personally I’d rather he went now , then hung around for a bit and then disappeared next month anyway

After receiving endless of red hot hatred from Brighton fans: don't hold your breath waiting for him to explain his choice or even say thank you for the years. Possibly he is a bigger man than I am and still will say something, but I wouldn't if I was in his shoes.

Why would he do that ? Potter a known quantity for him, and probably someone he gets on fantastically well with. Why risk staying around and being binned off the day the new coach comes in with his old team ?

You know the answer to that question: it's because certain/many B&HA fans feel betrayed by one of our most loyal servants going elsewhere to continue his career development.

I suppose he only wants to learn from Potter and to pick up the stuff he hasn't already after 3 years.

I'd have thought learning something different under eg. De Zerbi would have been incredibly beneficial, but that's just my outlook. And there is no way Tony would have let him be "binned off" - that would all have been sorted in advance with the new head coach.

Of course we are in a better position than 25 years ago. Also in a better position than in 1902 after 1 year established and in a far better position than in 1896 or in 1666 when London was burning or when the Romans invaded.

However we are not in a better position than 1 week ago when we had some first team coaches and I watched us beat Leicester 5-2.

But I wouldn't know if we are better than 3 weeks ago because I'm a 'JCL'. So I'll wait for your continued history lessons whilst I figure out which club I've had a ST for, for the last 9 years.

What a utter moronic post.

9 years, not bad but it explains why you are taking this news like a kid that's had his sweets taken away. It's 28 years since my first season ticket and while all this is a kick in the balls, we've come back from worse.

Worse that 4th in the Premier League having lost a manager with a 31% win rate and somehow received £22 million for his services? :p

Is this still going on ?

If you really want Bruno to be a future manager of Brighton here's a few things that would hugely improve the chances of that

1. Managing a team in the championship or similar, if not higher - WHICH WOULD MEAN HIM LEAVING THE ALBION
2. Being involved in a coaching team at the top level of European football - WHICH WOULD MEAN HIM LEAVING THE ALBION
3. Being deputy to a manager in the Premier league or similar - WHICH WOULDN'T NECESSARILY MEAN HIM LEAVING THE ALBION, IF THE NEXT BOSS OR IF THE ONE AFTER THAT DIDN'T HAVE AN ASSISTANT AND IF THEY DECIDED BRUNO WAS THEIR MAN, DESPITE NEVER HAVING WORKED WITH HIM, AND HADN'T BINNED HIM OFF WHEN THEY INITIALLY BOUGHT IN THEIR OWN TEAM

But obviously, despite having already tucked away a few million, rather than try and improve himself as a player, person and prospective manager, the same way he has throughout his entire career, he has done all this for a few quid

Now I understand people are upset but FFS
