Calvin - magnificent targetman performance well worth a goal.
Jarrett - different class to the rest of our central midfielders. The KEY signing in my opinion.
Birchall - best player on the pitch. Why was he taken off?
Sebastian - first touch showed more class than any other cross we've put in this season. Fantastic assist and great to see him back.

Throw in Davies and hopefully a proper left-back (thus freeing up Livermore to take weak-link El Abd's place in midfield) and I firmly believe we will have in place 90% of a squad that can win promotion next season. Murray, Forster, Calvin, AND Davies is just an embarrassment of riches upfront.

It's been a long time but tonight, my friends, I am happy to announce that FLAIR is back at the albion:clap2:

Agreed for the most part.

I think Birchall had a very good game today, although on balance Sully rightly deserved the MOM award I reckon.

I couldn't see a whole lot wrong with El-Abd's performance today to be honest. Our weakest link today was right across the back four, although Livermore wasn't too bad. I can't argue with you in preferring Livermore in midfield though.

New players acted HUNGRY as you expect ambitious players to act. That's all I ask personally. The fact that we tolerated the likes of Thomson for half a season shows exactly why we are where we are. Still far too much hoofball but reckon second half of the season will be much better than the first half

Even TCB should acknowledge that Adam El Abd played out iof his skin today and did exactly what is expected of a defensive holding midfielder

Tho maybe somebody should tell Adam El-Abd that if he's on the edge of the box with a clear shot on goal, then he doesn't HAVE to pass it sideways.

Oh, and for me the funniest thing in the whole match was when Virgo had the ball in the last twenty minutes about thirty yards out. He was looking all around to do the pass when the major shout went up from H Block 'Shhhhoooootttttt!'. At which point he checked his run, readjusted his feet and absolutely WELLIED it over the bar :lolol:

For what its worth, I thought El Abd did okay today, too. He was also FANTASTIC on Tuesday at Leicester, albeit in a very different kind of game [when defensive attributes are all that were needed.]

Andrew and Jarrett were the big difference to recent crap. Both were TREMENDOUS.

What was slow and predictable about him getting involved and playing simple balls and breaking up their play? He did his job and did it well. They had a bit of play by our box but mainly out wide where Virgo got raped several times. El Abd won almost everything that came his way. He looks more and more like a midfielder every time he plays. Leave the man alone, he's doing a decent job.

100% agreed, he was really good today.

Some people however are just blinded by the fact that a player is a product of the youth system and not brought in, they think that as they haven't been brought in they are shit and should be sacked, but if a loanee or new player does the same thing, they were unlucky. Some of the abuse these home grown players are getting is unbelievable and completely out of order.

Don't be a fool Doug. I have my "favourites" because they're the ones who consistently produce for our football club. The ones who don't, aren't!

And you seem unable to change your views because your opinions are set, even if a player you dislike starts to produce and is doing well, you fail to stop slating them.

Jarret was superb, very strong on the ball and able to hold it.

Not sure why Birchall was sacrificed for Carole should have been Cox coming off.

I'd expect that Birchall was taken off because he was playing in the position that Carole would normally play in, Taking Cox off would have mean't playing someone out of position again.

I know football is about opinions, re El Abd in midfield and I am not a lover of him playing there, although I think sometimes away from home in a 5 man midfield where he protects the back four then he is ok. Fact I think is that you can not play Fraser and El Abd in the center of a 4, also I do not think you can play him as first choice as the 'sitting' midfielder in a 4, how about putting Livermore there ?, or try Birchill and Jarrett at home, lets attack more as 3 points every 2 games will make us safe, 1 each game and where are in trouble.

Now Adams has some choices, then I think El Abd days are numbered in midfield and he can go back to what he is and that is a cover defender.

By the way I was up at Stockport this year when Davies played against us on loan and he was awesome, big, quick and thank god he could have got a hattrick if not for Michele.

Did anyone think that it was a good entertaining game yesterday as Pool gave it a go and that was refreshing to see.
