Maybe if he goes we can find an attacking manager whose team kicks the ball at the goal more often.

Edit: this comment is an acidic joke born out of frustration at our struggles this season. Struggles that are caused by injuries rather than the manager. Just needed to get it out.

Onward to European glory.

After the other injuries thread the other day, I really do think that high press / work rate squads might suffer more. I wouldn’t hold that against winning coaches, it brought Dortmund and Liverpool success against clubs with far bigger budgets, Spurs are finally looking a proper team.

Whilst West Ham, Fulham, Everton and Wolves best 11’s get physically cushioned by sitting back in a 1-5-4 defence.

Not picking on you, this is an interesting discussion, which (non flavour of the month) manager and tactics would you want to get us European football? Wouldn’t we get sick of O’Neil’s mass rank low block?
I would love to find a manager that can do both attack and defence. Maybe one week we are super attacking and exciting the next we have to be pragmatic and a bit more boring.

Mix it up.

De zerbi plays one way every week and it's been found out.

That's not to say if I had the option I wouldn't keep him. I would love him to stay at least one more season. But wouldn't be gutted if he goes now.

In the meantime, based on a general impression of pressers and post match interviews in recent months, he seems genuinely excited about working with young players like Fati, Barco, Facu, Hinsh and older talent like Pedro and Gross and seems to understand that our targets this campaign in both the EPL and Europe are being impacted by an unusually excessive amount of injuries this season and creating extra challenges as such and not due either to the lack of talent in the team or his management abilities (which is a good thing for us to consider whether he stays or not).
Pedro is 22 hardly an older player like Gross.

We’re 7th in the Premier League and in the last 16 in Europe, we’ve beaten Ajax twice and are unbeaten in two game against Marseille, and battered Palace 4-1 in one of the most one-sided games we’ve ever had against them, all in probably the worst injury crisis in the club’s history. I think to say he’s been ‘found out’ is a bit strong.

Ajax and Marseille are rubbish this season.

Tomorrow will be an interesting game against a very good home team who are inferior to us. Big few weeks coming up .....

"Being found out" has been levelled at De Zerbi after most of our painful defeats (even draws, sometimes) against teams we'd generally assess as being poorer than us.

Almost without fail, the opposition have taken a point or three off us through sheer luck.

It's not out-tacticing De Zerbi to give us a zillion chances, hope we fail to capitalise and snatch something against the run of play. You got lucky - no more than that.

It’s not been a great PL campaign, after the first couple of months. Home wins seem pretty rare to me, that’s the bread n butter for the 90% who don’t do away games.

I’d say this is down to failed transfer business last summer (CM and FB’s) and the astonishingly unlucky injury crisis.

My only RDZ gripe is I wish we wouldn’t be so gung-ho sometimes when there’s no need eg West Ham at home. We handed shit opponents easy opportunities to attack wide open space.
No doubt you didn’t enjoy us scoring 4 goal’s against Spurs and Palace at home recently. Unbeaten at home since August. Do you expect us to win every home game?

Wolves
Fulham
Sheffield U
Burnley
Everton
West Ham

All thoroughly disappointng Amex games. No doubt happy clappy you thought they were marvellous.

We’re a far less effective and exciting PL unit this season.

It's not sheer luck though. If a team parks the bus against us , by definition they will have less possession and less shots on target than us , but probably better quality chances when they hit us on the break.

It's not luck, it happened time and time again with potter in charge as well.

And guess what ... We will almost certainly have more shots and possession than Fulham tomorrow. Will we win......probably not.

Have to agree with that. Hodgson, Moyes, Silva and Dyche are fine with ceding possession, the art of defence, used to having less attempts on goal. Football has always rewarded teams playing that too. Potter racked up huge attempts on goal stats in losses, he wasn’t unlucky either.

Btw Wolves were our equal at the Amex, second half a comatose Albion were picked apart.

Marseille , Palace, Spurs. Last 16 in Europa and 7th in the table. Prefer to be happy clappy than miserable.

The injuries have taken their toll, giving the setbacks and the generally accepted theme in discussions that RDZ isn’t the happy soul he was in October. You don’t have the say on let’s not talk about that and the very mixed results behind it.

The same David Moyes who said West Ham had "rode their luck" against us?

I think Barca might have to pay 12M+ midseason or just a couple in the early summer. I suspect we might find out in time. But there will be other good managers if so.

Oh FFS!! Why is it every time Roberto twitches an eyebrow people assume he’s off to Liverpool, Barcelona, Man Utd, Chelsea, AC Milan, Man City, Brechin City, Civil Service Strollers - you name it. It’s getting tedious now, just stop! :annoyed:

Brechin City?.........what have you heard?
This'll be all over the social media sites within hours :moo:

Ignore Brechin City at your peril......!
Brechin - my 'second' team. Doing okay this season and likely to be in the play-off to get back into the Scottish Leagues again (lost in them last year).
