I thought he got it right again.

I think we play better with a 4-4-2 formation and I don't think there was space to find a defensive role for Virgo - Although he did move into defence in the second half with Reid moving into midfield.

We played with 3 center backs and central midfielders at Wolves to neutralise Hoddle's diamond 4-4-2 formation.

Reid played well, again. Hinshelwood was outstanding again. Butters was solid as always again and Mayo didn't play as well as he did in the last two games.

You know what you're getting with Hart/Carpenter/Oatway. Harding, for me, disapointed again.

McCammon and Virgo didn't get much of a look in. They stopped the Q.P.R. back line just easily heading the ball away and forcing the game forward. So it worked in helping us defend. Leon on as as sub worked hard as he has been recently and caused them some different problems. 45 minutes Knight. 45 minutes McCammon. I guess McGhee was finding out who's more effective himself. It's not as easy a decision as some think, imo.

Of course he knows his squad. How they perform on the pitch against different opposition though is a different thing. You're learning all the time.

Worthing
I think MM got it just about right today. I don't know if McCammon is injured or not, but Knight made a positive impact in the second half. I'd have happily settled for a point beforehand and I thought we fought hard against a team that's looking to bounce back. We might even have stolen all the points in the last minutes.

It's amazing how people have such different views about how the game went. I was listening to the LBC match reporter giving his summing up, and he thought Rangers had 85% of the possession, and should have won 4-0. He also thought our player should have been sent off instead of Furlong. Perhaps he was enjoying too much hospitality in the Pitchside Restaurant?

Surely our own SCR team wouldn't have given such a one-sided report of the game if it was the other way round?

Very informative.

McGhee said an interesting thing post-match, that giving McCammon and Knight a half each was a pre-planned move.

I don't think it's an audition to find out who's the best, as kinkygerbil seems to be implying. What McGhee appeared to suggest is that Leon would be more effective against the tiring defenders, with McCammon having the job to tire them out. Certainly the different kind of threats they pose must have have kept the QPR defence on its toes.

It's an interesting move and again shows how McGhee is not afraid to use his squad to try different things, which is one of his great strengths as a manager.
