Well, I am a referee myself and met him once before, and he seemed a genuinely nice bloke. As Hans Kraay has said, was he actually convicted ? Innocent til proven guilty I say.

I am also very uncomfortable with the outcome of this case. I have not met Knight in about 7 years, but I used to know him pretty well, as we were in the same year at Hove Park, and both played cricket for Patcham Priory. What I do know of him is that he is socially inadequate and lives for sport. The court put him on the register, which is fair enough, but also banned him from going anywhere near any football or cricket club where juniors are involved [even amongst the opposition]. That includes basically every sports club in the country.
Take away the only healthy thing in this guys life, and is that likely to help him fit properly into society, or to find something less healthy to do with his time?

Good point, well made Mr Kraay. It seems a little insensitive that this was actaully done to the guy. I dont know.
