198 x 45 minutes of the founding of the Ottoman Empire. Forget the obvious nationalist themes, the massive pro - Muslim script, the occasional, quite often dramatic slow motion clips, it actually really isn’t bad.
I learnt so much about the Muslim religion and the roots of Turkish history (Something I knew zilch about) plus it goes on forever.
Added advantage of interesting and sometimes vague subtitles

Realise I'm eight years late. Only got into it after picking up Seasons 1 & 2 in a charity shop for 50p a go.
Then realised I'd got hooked so got 3 & 4 before discovering the whole caboodle is on Netflix.
It swings from ridiculous to gripping and there are lots of explosions.
One or two good twists, though it's no Chubby Checker.
