Why not? It happens too often. No strikers = no goals. Clueless Potter.

How does our striker situation equate to clueless Potter? What more can he do; he has us set up having tens of shots at goal a game and enough good chances to win 3 games per game let alone one. How is it clueless of Potter that the attacking players at his disposal miss them all? We've battered so many teams this season and gone toe to toe with so many top teams, yet have so few points. Potter is doing everything right - his forward players are the ones missing gilt edged chances game after game after game

Thanks chaps, we’ll need it! You lot on the other hand will be alright, mark my words.

All the best.

It was a great post but it was not that long ago that we were in the same posistion and could not understand what the top clubs had to moan about.
Tonight we are angry and frustrated but unlike clubs that have never been out of the top flight most of us remember going to Grimsby and getting relegated, again.
I hope you get out of your mess, part of me still misses away trips to lower league clubs, proper people and fans, well most anyway.

really does put it into perspective - we were on a par with the Mariners not too long ago. Wife is from GY and once joked with the in-laws that whoever won that season's match up would be the club our new son would support. (A Withdean 3-0 saved him)

He’s a lucky boy. I think the right decision in hindsight.

I love my club, trouble is they don’t love me back. Same is true of the missus, but at least she thanks me for paying the mortgage. Shallow sex is better than no sex at all, and believe me, there’s been a dearth of sexy football at Blundell Park for about 20 years now.

“We get so hung up on statistics these days. The game is decided by goals. Goals are a question of how well you take your chances and defend theirs."

Does he have a point?

I've had to go and find the cat. I kicked him into the field at the back of my garden, but typically I missed my target. A Palace fan walking past found him and come in my garden for the first time ever and put him back through the cat flap

He’s not completely wrong.

But it sounds like a way of justifying a lucky result to me. Which is probably the truth of the matter.

FFS, how the mighty have fallen, we've had some great results recently, we lose a sucker punch game v the scum, and its the end of the world.
Grow up some you

Losing to Palace is and always will be an end of the world moment...if only for one or two days before we can again see beauty in the world, noticing the tiny snowdrops and daffodils growing as they reach for the sun, ready to soon turn a golden yellow whilst little garden birds chatter excitedly at the coming of Spring.

But until then, life’s shit. You get me?! :annoyed::mad:

To an extent but it papers over the cracks at what is going on at Palace. Until the final minute they were calling for his head on the forums.

Tonight "crystallised" what is very wrong at the moment with both teams.

An old fashioned manager and a new fangled one both failing to get results. The issue for us is that Palace are above us in the table and their manager got the result.

In the 2 games this season Brighton had 43 shots on target and 1 goal. Palace had 4 shots and 3 goals. This is amazing how the Hell did Palace not get 4 goals?

well, as the camera was fading out at one point there certainly appeared to be some merriment.

It’s not bad luck, a tactics issue, or an effort issue. All season we’ve been a good side missing a decent striker. We’re still a good side missing a decent striker. Blown our money on the Iranian Luke Chadwick, a Dutch DJ, a perma-injured Colombian and a Brazilian left back who couldn’t get in the side ahead of a winger and a 6’7 centre back. We need to shift that lot on and buy a proper, oven-ready striker this year IF we stay up. The rest of the ‘project” is pointless if you can’t put the ball in the bl00dy onion bag.

I'm 60 next month and thought by now I'd have grown out of getting so angry about a result of a football match, but obviously not.. For all the pretty football we played in the 2nd half last night, let's not forget the 1st half was fairly lacklustre we only had 5 shots on target. Their keeper only had 4 shots to save non of which were top draw. Really need to get a fully fit proven striker in soon as possible otherwise this is just going to repeat itself. Gutted and don't know what else to say at the moment, hopefully a win at the Hawthorns will take away some,of the frustration.

But Palace don't play like that every week do they ?

Their talisman was missing and they came away to one of the best form sides in the Division and a local derby and did a job. They have had a massive slice of luck tonight but to think they play like that every game is wrong - did you see them demolish Leeds at Selhurst ?

I'd rather have their points tally than ours !

I'm reliably informed that their style of play is pretty much like that all the time.
Just recently they haven't produced such a spirited defence, but tactics wise? Yeah that's how they play.

On NSC for over two decades...
One loss does not mean relegation. Fortunately the Albion are actually quite difficult to beat generally, and if they could shoot straight would be much higher up the league.

Last night hurts, but it isn't season defining.

Let me stop you there.

Ah yes.

Maupay, £17m. Not wasted.
Jahanbaksh £18/19m. Not wasted.
Trossard approx £15m. Not wasted.
Locadia approx £10m,he's certainly not been a waste of money.

So that's about £50m wasted over 4 years, god knows how much in wages that have been eaten up in a potential wage budget.

How much of that £50m do you think is recoverable?

If it's not the recruitment, then it's the players' management. Which is it?
